@nevermore - what glue do you use to glue the matchsticks to the mesh - PVA, superglue, epoxy? Thanks

depending upon what grade you buy, i'd say scissors is all you'll need.

I don't know - some Swedish mess: http://www.harald-nyborg.dk/merinfo.asp?varenr=3270&n=10

Doesn't say anything about thickness/grade, only dimensions...

Aluminium, easy to cut with scissors or a ruler and a knife.

OK, thanks, I'll give it a try. Have to go to that store to get some new clogs, anyway (this gardening season has left mine resembling hungry alligators

Yup very easy. I've also used it for stained glass/leaded windows before to good effect.

Anyway, I'd avoid using wooden matchsticks for supports though. Plastic sprue and plasti-rod's what I've always used, less chance of accidental damage when the zombie hoards are rocking it!

ok really good tip here, once you got the matchsticks glued in the base, leave till bone dry, paint up the post, cut mesh with scissors, two blobs of glue on each post, to keep the mesh straight and flat, put between two books and flatten, lay the base (with matchsticks) on its side and simply lay the mesh on the post, if the mesh don't touch all the post don't worry as long as its glued to some.
Now once its bone dry, get some fuse wire 39p from shop, and thread the wire through the holes near the post that is not glued, simply then twist the fuse wire, don't bother doing a knot, once it pulls the fence and secures it to the post just cut off the bits of wire...you could do this with every post if you want, but you still best using PVA glue.

good luck  malc.

Is the fence along the top sharp? Looks almost saw-like...

If it's not enough to cut skin, I'm betting easy to snag cloth, say, sleeves.

Vigilance of the gamer required.  :D

If it is like the mesh that I have used...it can scratch and snag, but the aluminum isn't sharp enough to cut skin.  Take one of those emry (finger nail polishing) boards and give it a quick hit to round over the edges and you won't even have to worry about the scratches (not much you can do about the snags though).
