Scaffolding Mogadishu pt 1
« on: 02 September 2011, 09:59:13 AM »
Always wondered in my strange mind if i could create something a little bit differant
in wargaming, well here it is... Mogadishu ruin my day !

The Victorian Outpost

Its a new gaming place in Grimsby with new terrain and new scenery, lots of respect for all wargamers and is the best place to game in town.

Anybody who wishes to visit the venue to arrange a game then  just pm me and lets roll those dice.

Nice work and a cool tutorial, thanks for sharing.

Nice work, I'm impressed!

An alternative to large matchsticks is to use wooden barbeque skewers.

I have used them for my Mordheim project to represent medieval scaffolding. As the are rounded, they look like stripped down tree trunks.
They would work well for bamboo scaffolding too.

It is not particularly clear in this picture, but that is what was used to create this scaffold;

Of course your use of squared matchsticks is more appropriate for your subject matter.

P.S. Thanks for painting up that aquarium ruin. I have one of those and had previously left it as I bought it. I thought it worked fine as-is (apart from the fact it is hollow and you can see the inside!) but, having seen yours, I think it would look better painted up in the same colour scheme as the rest of my town. Warning to others regarding this aquarium piece; It is hollow and made of plastic and needs some work, IMO, to make it usable. Nevermore has made it look much better than I first thought it could be!
Cheers!

Edit; Better pic:

Neat work indeed.

I use coffee stirers, which coffee chains let you take handfuls of, or you can buy a whole box for a couple of quid... I'm nearly through my first box of one thousand.

The 'planks' are indeed coffee stirrers!
The 'scaffold' itself is made from bbq skewers.
I use coffee stirrers for a magnitude of uses, mainly as planks and floorboards.

Coffee stirrers are very very nice and I use them heavily too.

The best part is that I find they're more the "right" scale for a generic wooden plank in 28/30mm and are much easier to cut than lollipop/"craft"/popsicle sticks, while still being much more durable than balsa.
