I can't believe no-one has mentioned Blazing Saddles yet! :P

Or Paint Your Wagon...
or Calamity Jane
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

Oh, two musts for the list:

Hallelujah Trail (my personal gaming inspiration!)

and Shenandoah (with Jimmy Stewart) I know, ACW more than western but it still gets my vote

and I second Paint Your Wagon (not so much for Clint Eastwood's singing  :o as for the visual behind "Is that what you're looking at, Mr. Rumson?"

A lot of the movies previously listed would have to go on my favourite favourites' list so here's twenty more, in alphabetical order, that I enjoyed watching (and rewatching, in many cases).  I make no apologies for the number of John Wayne movies in the list either.

Big Jake (1971)
Cat Ballou (1965)
Comancheros, The (1961)
Destry Rides Again (1939)
El Dorado (1966)
Hang 'Em High (1968)
High Plains Drifter (1973)
Maverick (1994)
McLintock! (1963)
North to Alaska (1960)
Paleface, The (1948) - Jane Russell!
Rio Conchos (1964)
Silverado (1985) - one of the most underrated modern westerns, IMHO
Spoilers, The (1942) - Duke vs Randolph Scott!
Support Your Local Sheriff (1969)
Train Robbers, The (1973)
Two Mules for Sister Sara (1970)
Undefeated, The (1969)
War Wagon, The (1967)
Way Out West (1937) - Laurel and Hardy classic
Why take Life seriously? You'll never get out of it alive!

Unforgiven
Tombstone
Assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford
Once Upon a Time in the West
Magnificent seven
The Good, the bad, the ugly
3:10 to Yuma (2007)

Open Range - one of the best ever endings (maybe the best) and the 6 main roles are all spot on!
Unforgiven
Assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford
Wyatt Earp (you see the real Doc Holiday)
Ride with the Devil (Spiderman, the guy from scream and Jewel, wow!)

And three that I probably shouldn't like but do
September Dawn (not really a western I suppose, but perhaps that's why I liked it more tha I should have)
Rio Bravo (aside for the song by Ricky what's his name...)
Gettysburg (again not a western...)

I really like "Open range" too but I feel it is awfully similar to Unforgiven, they even have Gene Hackman playing the bad guy in both movies  lol

I admit "The quick and the dead" (not mentioned by anyone yet) is something of a guilty pleasure of mine  lol Not the best movie, far from it, but still fun to watch the cowboy "tournament".

How to pick only seven  :?

Unforgiven.
Once Upon a Time in the West.
McCabe and Ms. Miller.
The Outlaw Josey Wales.
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
Django.
Pale Rider.

Of course, the rest of the Dollars trilogy should be in there as well as High Plains Drifter, The Magnificant Seven, A Man CAlled Horse, The Searchers. I could go on for ages.

Man called Horse

Is that the one where they put hooks on his chest and pull? If so it's a good one too

Quick and the dead is good, and actually has an amazing cast

Open range is Michael Gambon (I think) as the Irish guy. Not sure it is that like Unforgiven...
