LOL, that may be a "need to know" level plan/project!

Hi Arthur

I know what you mean about limited poses. It was part of MC's original plan. I can't see us making more poses for the basic troops until we've finished all the troop types, and I'd like the characters to add colour to the range before looking at going back over things.

The French Dragoons are not far off as MC had them 80% finished, so it won't take Steve long to get them out.

The historical D'Artagnan served in the Dutch Wars and died at the seige of Maastricht. So he's on our list already. MC said the French Guard Cavalry were still wearing tabbards in the Musketeer fashion so we may get to them.

Thanks for that  :)

Just to satisfy my curiosity, is the historical d'Artagnan the same hero type chap that's in the novel?

A bit off topic I know, sorry  :)

Well, I haven't read them, but Dumas is supposed to have borrowed a lot from the man's memoires.

So any chance of the Spanish? You can't really do the period without them.
Em dezembro de '81
Botou os ingleses na roda
3 a 0 no Liverpool
Ficou marcado na história
E no Rio não tem outro igual
Só o Flamengo é campeão mundial
E agora seu povo
Pede o mundo de novo

We have MCs design notes for Spanish and Swedes. We plan to do them, but I know realistically it'll be a little way down the line.

Excellent. If you need pictures for reference, let me know.

Do the infantry fit on 20mm square bases?  (Not sure how large these are - some of the Copplestone figures are a "bit big." )

I've got a decent photo of Steve's first figures for this range.

Plus the first regiment painted by the brill Dave Woodward.

PS, yes, they will fit on 20mm bases. This range is actually a little finer than normal Copplestone Castings, only a little.

"Flashing Blade" type figures? As in the great but badly dubbed TV programme in the 70s? [pricks up ears]
"Ho, ho, ho! Well, if it isn't fat stinking billy goat Billy Boy in poison! How art thou, thou globby bottle of cheap, stinking chip oil? Come and get one in the yarbles, if ya have any yarbles, you eunuch jelly thou!"

Well, I haven't read them, but Dumas is supposed to have borrowed a lot from the man's memoires.

Except that the memoirs were fake, too!  They were actually written by a man called Courlitz, who probably embroidered the real life.  Best to treat Dumas' d'Artagnan as wholly fictional, I think.  For example, he's about 10 years older than the real Charles de Batz-Castelmore, chevalier d'Artagnan, and manages to spend a lot of years serving in the King's Musketeers while the real unit was disbanded.
Back from the dead, almost.

Took delivery today of one of the Beneath the Lilly Banners Battalion packs.

As others have said these are fantastic figures.

Nick's pack deal is fantastic value - including postage just over a £ per figure - and the usual brilliant service.   :)

Now, being a painter rather than gamer I am wondering why the "battalion" has 25 figures?  Anyone care to enlighten me how these are based?

I checked out the BLB website and gleaned that basing isn't too important, but most foot seem to be on 6 figures to a "stand."  Which would mean 24 figures.  So, is there a "spare" or am I missing something?

Hi Orc Trader

The extra figure is for variety. The BLB Battalion has 4 bases. Two of 6 musketeers either side of a central base of 3 command and three musketeers, and a base of 6 pikemen placed behind the command. I put 4 command figures in the deal rather than 3 so you can choose which to add, or as there is a lot of room on the bases you could put 7 figures on the command base.

Cheers

Thanks for the explanation Nick.   :)
