Dinosaurs for my pulp games Update 11-18-11
« on: 09 November 2011, 11:06:57 PM »
Trying to learn more about photo taking of my minis,
so here are some Dinos I have used in some pulp games.
The Indy Jones figure in the photos is to show the sizes of the figures.

Those look great!

I'd also like to know the sources of them, as I don't recognize some of the figures and I always thought I had a reasonable handle on dinos suitable for 28mm.

One thing I'd suggest for the photos is to pull your background up a bit, to tug that fold in the cloth out a bit more and make the curve up from the horizontal to the vertical part a bit smoother. That would probably help the background be, well, the background and less noticeable.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone.
I purchased most of the figures about 3 to 4 years ago.
Most of the dinos came from three companies.
Tamiya 1/35 dinosaurs. They are plastic, and are a little large but they look good.
Ironwind figures. Listed under Prehistorics.
Reaper figures. Listed under Animals.
A few I purchased off E-bay.
All figures were primed white. Then used washes and inks to do most of the work.
Hopes this answers some of your questions.

That terrain is awesome! I like the dinos too. They're just what I need for my Song of Fur and Buttons campaign. I haven't been able to find scale dinos anywhere. Thinks for the links! :D

One other great source of 28mm dinosaurs is HLBS, who I don't think have been listed anywhere upthread.

They used to have a great range of a dozen or twenty types of dinosaurs, but for some reason they've retired most of the designs and just have five models on offer right now - they're over here on HLBS's website.

It'd be nice if they brought back the whole range, but the stuff they do have at least includes their very nice velociraptors, a horde of evil little Compsognathus and some other nice smaller dinosaurs (hard to find in plastic or other forms) and a big T. Rex that looks good but I haven't seen in person. I do own all the rest of the dinos they currently offer, and they're all very nice.

My favourites have to be the velociraptors. They're straight out of the first Jurassic Park movie, lots of character and animation in the sculpts!
