Perennial mass battles rules question for reduced armies
« on: December 11, 2011, 11:42:03 AM »
Slowly reducing my fantasy armies to several hundred of particular oldie goldie dwarf figures from these primarily OOP in the past  lines:

I have small groups to represent rebelling Hobbit/Gnomes/Elves (Dwarves pretty much are a dominant group in my setting) but as always looking for Mass battle rules that would be compatible with these figures mounted on 20 mm circles or .75 inch squares (close enough) with sabot basing for mass battles (mostly 60 mm x 60 mm squares with some 40 mm x 40 mm squares.  "Artillery" - medieval and steam/gunpowder - weapons mounted on square bases to fit the weapon/crew.

Dice Mechanics should be compatible with  (D2, D3,) D4, D6, D8, D10, D12, (D14, D16,) and D20 dice progression and (preferably but not mandatorily)  not involve figure removal.  One die roll per unit or opposed die roll mechanics preferred (especially the latter.) Something like Star Grunt/Dirtside for Fantasy.  One of the reason I despise GW games that I have seen/played is the "Hit/Wound/Save" crap - far too tedious.

Free is good but if they reflect well my prejudices above then I'd happily pay reasonable prices.

Gracias,

Glenn
