Hasslefree Frank survivor WIP
« on: December 19, 2011, 07:47:06 PM »
Some pics of the Hasslefree Frank figure I've been playing around with. Going to turn him into a bearded survivor type. Was planning on giving him a sawn-off shot gun in his left hand and a hold-all in his right but changed the plan to give him an M16.

Snipped off his beer can arm and repaired the damage to his coat. Lowered the height of the right arm a little so he'll be holding the rifle at a lower angle.

Some blu-tac arms give an idea of how it should look.

Going to give him an old style canvas backpack with maybe a baseball bat sticking. Thinking of giving him either a baseball cap or a woolly hat, not sure which one to go with.

cheers

Iain

Or a stump for a right hand?? (Well not with the M16 of course! ;)). Perfect for a bearded Rick Grimes as well as the L4D reference.

(Figures turned up Sat cheers Iain).

I'll second this idea.

Don't give him a beret.   You go through all the trouble of that great work to make him look like a rough and tough survivor, putting a useless hat on his head takes away from that.   A beret does not keep your head/ears warm, does not keep sun or rain out of your face...   They are useless, ask anyone who has had to wear one.

This guy needs functional head gear.  The wool watch cap or baseball cap are both better ideas than a beret.  I wold also consider a boonie type hat.

I understand your going for post apoc and not zombie lulz but as others have mentioned, he WOULD look mighty fine with a beret and possibly even a medkit. 8)

Never worn a beret, I'll take CptJake's word on them :) I thought the beret was to make him look like L4D Bill though... Think a boonie hat might make him look too special forces?  I definately want a civilian with a gun look. Btw would be using him as a zombie survivor rather than post-apoc although would work for both. I might try the wooly hat... with a few pin badges on it.

Thinking of something to sculpt sticking out of his right pocket. Maybe some kind of melee weapon or some magazines, or a book or map maybe. Maybe a medkit would fit in the pocket?

No I think he needs a pair of round glasses, preferably with one lense cracked.

And what is your daily rate for such a conversion again?  :) ;)

That's a great conversion. How about giving him a hat with earflaps? "I don't care if you don't like the way it looks, my ears are cold!"  :)

I like what you've done so far. Really looking forward to seeing the finished product. When I saw this figure the first thing I thought of was Ham's partner from V the Final Battle. I think his name was Chris, but I could be wrong. He was a big guy with a beard, long hair and usually carried an M-16. I might be wrong about that too. It's been a few years since I watched the show.

I was going to say 'thankfully without his belly showing', but I suspect you mean the lad in the middle.

He's totally badassss. However, I find the conversion above is in some ways more interesting as, for now, he looks more than a little lost. End of the world can leave us 'less suited for it', dazed.

If any cap, wooly seems right, down to the ear flaps.
