Harumph! They could at least learn to spell 'briefing'.

It's been said before, but I am really tired of seeing  Battletech (which was always a stupid idea) backdated with a bit of paint. Or a funnel and a bit of steam traction gear. Lame, lame, lame.

Everyone knows that the mad Scientists of the Third Reih understood that, while zombies, werewolves and vampires were crazy ideas, at least they were more sensible than giant robots which would fall over when they snagged their stompy great KISS 1975 boots on the nearest bit of hedge.

Bah! H
I do all my own stunts

Now you can't criticize bad spelling, when you have it yourself.....can you?

Kidding of course, and you do make a great point about the KISS boots.

But damn, it do look cool!!

I like Kiss boots and giant walking robots!

My moto is, if it has zombies in it, or giant walking robots, then no matter what it is it will automatically be better. Movies, games, comics, stories...

:D

Hey Neldoreth, I'm really looking forward to see your "SdKfz 331 HORNET" painted in Ace Frehley style!  :D

"Uh, I better look in the manual... This book must be out of date. I don't see "Prussia", "Siam" or "autogyro"...

Neldoreth, I think that your own WWII walkers are a lot more interesting than the West Wind items - they look as if you had tken time to consider what (if they'd existed) WWII robotech would have looked like.

Actually, setting aside the inherent problems with walking devices, I like giant robots as much as most people. It's more an issue with the very derivative form of these models; I feel the same way about VSF steam vehicles that are based on WH40K monstrosities rather than actual period engineering.

I'd prefer to see upright war engines based on shipbuilding/ submarine styles, with ladders and ventilators and a bridge. Or the forms used in armoured trains as well as tank development. Or even, simply, 1930s/40s Sci-Fi.

mr whitehouse, i agree wholeheartedly!

i'm put in mind of some WW II movies (like Patton) where even i as a 12 year old child could see that the tanks the germans were using didn't match the toy one i had, they were just grey painted versions of the olive drab allied tanks.  it  ruined the "period feel" for me - as some of the 'Mecha figures do.  a visual art (as miniture gaming is or can be - otherwise why aren't we using paper chits?) naturally hits our eyes first (DUH!) and must look the part before you can dazzle me with background story to rationalize the setting or justify the stats for me to watch my opponent roll d[handful] of dice.

i think i just passed the threshhold to longwindedness...

yours

I actually agree with you Mr. Howard Whitehouse. Really, I think that the sci-fi Weird War stuff should really be very firmly rooted in 1920/1930 sci-fi mixed with the real technology used in WWII. That is why I like the gear Kreig universe, as it is much closer to that reality (and it is what my walkers are all based on).

I do think the West Wind stuff is a bit too high-tech. A bit too polished, which is really unfortunate because it had a lot of potential

Still, it is nice to see a company take the initiative to such a great level. Maybe now BAM or TAG will take up the gauntlet and learn from West Wind's mistakes. I would love to see some more Weird War stuff from BAM!

Preview of the forthcoming infantry packs

The hand on the Russian seems a tad small and I can't make out what the American is doing, he certainly doesn't look he could fire like that. Don't know need to see more, these look a little ordinary to me.

Those figs look great, but are they just regular soldiers with gas masks?
