Mantic Twilight Kin
« on: January 28, 2012, 07:59:13 AM »

I loved those banana helmet Eldar Guardians long ago. This doesn't mean I want to see them every time I spell the name E-L-F. Another race for Mantic, another GW inspiration. What a delusion.

I know what you mean but they are a great improvement on their standard elves for some reason.

Ditto Ale.
I dont like Mantic stuff generally. To me they cry "we are the cheaper GW!". Poor detailed, rarely can substitute GW bits IMO. This elf are better than previous but far from being something I could buy.

Wow they look like a poor copy of Dark Elves, how unexpected!

Not winning me over either. They look on a par with Mantics first elves and to be honest I'd have expected a massive improvement since then. People will still buy them though because they're cheaper army fillers and they want to support anything that might dent GW's sales.

To be honest, you're right. In fact I just say I'm a bit deluded because I agree the company has a great potential, and I'm waiting for it to shine.

I was never a fan of the insectile and awkwardly-posed Mantic High Elves, but I had higher hopes for their Dark Elves (based on the fair quality of the metal Dark Elf Sorceress/Hag Queen they released). I will reserve judgement until I see more examples/sprues/etc.

I'm not sanguine based on this first example however...  :(
