Moose was definitely around there. some Roman historians mentioned them. Are there appropriate moose figures out there?

I doubt it. I monitor miniatures like that and I have never seen one.

EDIT: Well what do you know... Brigade apparently makes some nop: http://www.brigadegames.com/Animals_c_44.html#top

Depending in what area are you referring to.

For example here in South of Europe there was also lion hunt.
Remember that hercules carried a lion hide (the Nemean Lion) and also there is a mosaic from Alexander's times depicting  macedonian youths hunting down lions (with swords).
I am not sure whether there was any in the northern Europe. However, since at that time weather was warm enough, note, that the graeco-Roman temperature optimum lasted until 320 AD, there might be some lions living in the german forests, too. Also these are the mountain lions, similar to those living today in Atlas mountais of the magreb area (Algiers and Morocco)
In general 2000 years ago more or less european flora and  fauna was similar to todays, so, wolves, lynx, jackals, bears, deers, rabbits, hares, wild boars, wild horses, ducks and other poultry etc were more common and present in large(!) numbers. Already decimated but they were numerous at least till the medieval times.
As for models: bears can be found by various manufacturers like Foundry, irregular miniatures, mega minis etc etc. grizzlies and the european brown bear are similar so, no problem. Deers (incl. one hunted down) are also well represented by Foundry and others. For lions, lynx etc: a good proxies would be : female lions or tiger/pumas from other ranges, but the colours should be more earthly browns etc. Forget black and leopard-spotted hides. A common feature , specially in the north savannahs/taiga etc was flocks of wild horses. Easy to find a few.

Here is the link to Foundry's MED519 aka the Deer Hunt
http://wargamesfoundry.com/historical_ranges/single_packs/medieval/european/the_deer_hunt_med519/
it is medieval but I think it can pass easily for earlier periods, too.
they also have another set named the boar hunt, but it is primarly a medieval knight hunting. Only useful for the boars.
here it is, too:

I forgot fox, beaver and otter and also wild goats. Horses were eaten so its not impossible that they were hunted for food. Lynx in the upland regions. Mirliton do some beasties which may be suitable.

Foundry used to do a very nice Celtic Boar Hunt set, but I can't seem to find it anymore on their site. Another casualty of the purge?

Anway, nice mounted Celt w spear who could pass as German if needed, 2 dogs, a boar (realistic sized too!), and some fanatic w/ heads that can be ignored. Worth hunting down!  :D

I've got some mounted Germans with spears, fanatics and dogs as well. Now only need some realistic sized animals.

I'd take this one with a large handful of salt if I were you. Unless you're going for some sort of Wagnerian twist to your hunt, that is ;)
