Apparently the difference with the European bison and the american one was little, nothing you'd notice on a 28mm. mini.
Armorcast even has Glorantha bison riding beasts if you are into that sort of thing.

a moose and an elk are the same thing, right?

In that case a large rabbit is a must for your hunt.

Other than helmet adornments I don't think that hunt looks wrong at all. Wound the bison, follow it with dogs until it's on its last legs and then killing blows while it is barely standing so the hunters can thump their chests later and cheer each other's bravery.

As to elk=moose, what is called a moose in the US is the same thing as a European elk (Alces alces), but the American elk (Wapiti wapiti) is a different creature all together.

Bingo.

<sarsasm>Given enough time, I'm sure I could find some way to rationalise the use of tunics, armour and Dalmatians by early German hunting parties </sarcasm>

P.S. Forgive me, I have been drinking Rioja.
