During these festive days, I felt that it would be time to begin with the preparations of the demo game that I am going to present at Driscoles‘ ‚Do or Dice‘-Con on March 8th, 2008 here in Kiel.
The game itself is called ‚Fairy Meat‘ and is produced by Kenzer Co. You even can find a free download of some quick start rules on boardgamegeek.com:
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/file/info/8077The game is about fairies that have become corrupted in tasting the flesh of their fellows! In fact, the taste of fairy-meat seems to be so addictive to them that they will not even devour anything else! Each player commands a group of fairies, or other mystical creatures(such as Dwarves, lepre..., ahem, Leperchauns, Pixies and the like). From there, it is, technically, a simple skirmish game, utilising a standard Poker Deck as a randomiser.
So what‘s the fun about that?
The game is being played in 1:1 scale with the fairies being roughly 40mm in scale!! The first ones have been finished now, Mr. Popular crept into the pic again to illustrate scale.

The bases are adorned with real breadcrumbs my family collected in the last few days... The other miniatures will follow in subsequent posts.
I have used the official miniatures from Kenzer Co., sadly they are no longer available. I Thought a lot about the wings beforehand, as I felt that they had to be translucent to look striking enough... Kenzer have even included a page of cut-out cardboard wings in their rules to attach to Your already-painted miniatures in order to start playing as quickly as possible!:

The demo games will be played on a set table with 4 gamers actually having breakfast while gaming!
The tableware and cutlery and everything else will be the terrain the fairies will frolick in and thus has a fixed position. Each gamer will be controlling two fairies(One a Dwarf, perhaps...), the game will be a simple knock-out with the last survivor winning. After each gamer‘s turn, he will have to roll a D6. On a 6, he may move one of the objects on the table in a different position(Without placing it on a fairy, off course!), offering some Toast to his neighbour and blocking the line of sight of his fairies afterwards, for example!!:

I really hope that I sparked some interest around here and that some of You will come around to have a game!
