Battle of Verneuil, Salute 2011 Winner of Best Demo Game
« on: March 09, 2012, 11:59:49 AM »
This game that Simon Chick and I (Darrell Hindley) and put on for the Lance and Longbow Society was a long time in the planning. We finally got things together and decided to show the game at Salute 2011. We were very surprised to win Best Demo Game to say the least let alone have our picture taken with Rifleman Harris  :?. The miniatures are about 95% Perry's from their Agincourt to Orleans range and were painted by Simon and I. The scenery all belongs to Simon including the beautifull conversion of the Hudson and allen Castle which stood in for the city walls of Verneuil.

I started a Blog a good while ago covering the preperation for the game which is still ongoing called La Journee(watch out for more pics on the blog this afternoon):

Feel free to pop over and take a peek  ;).

In the mean time I'll leave you with the pics of the game:

One of my favourite things from last year's Salute. A thing of absolutely beauty, and great to be reminded of it again.

My thoughts exactly  :)
It was also good to meet Darrell and Simon and have a chat.
In fact, I've got a few photos of this myself...
Might add them to this thread if I can find them...

Absolute stunner of a game  :-* :-* :-*

What we should all aspire to  :)

The castle was converted by a nice chap called John Bodle (I went to university with him) and I made the clear trays  ;)

Certainly my favourite game of the show and a well deserved winner.

Apparently, John Bodle only does castle conversions very sparingly, which is a bit annoying, because it looks bloody fabulous. Simon kindly enquired on my behalf if John would be interested in doing one for me, and sadly, the answer came back, he wouldn't...  :'(
All castled out apparently...

James, could you do that to the Hudson & Allen component parts... ?  ::) 8)

I got the same answer from John when I asked last year - might be worth doing something off-the-shelf to convert his models as I'd also be up for it (with his permission of course) James?
