Painting challenge for Styx (title change)
« Reply #90 on: 10 April 2012, 03:12:45 AM »
Picking up on Day 19 and postings won't be daily for awhile. I am still painting Strange Aeons stuff to take a break, otherwise I would go mad painting power armor.

Here is two Mallifux coffins I painted, I bought them when they was 25% off at a LGS and figured they would make cool objective markers. After I posted the photo I noticed the padlocks was missing! Time to flip!

Well, between the contest, my mother-in-law, the trip and the house refinance things are calming down!

I picked up my brush and finally touched some Strange Aeons figs last night...a Ghost, Ancient Spirit and Mummy...just about finished with each. Just finished my two zombie dogs also and ready to primer tonight if possible (well depends Florida weather, rain today).

I did manage to inventory my three plastic cases to "painted", "work in progress" and "to do once I buy some bases".

Wow nice job in them. What line is the shambled from? The mummy and werewolf are also eye catching. Very cool to see that werewolf all painted up.

I ordered everything from Miniature Giant (a Reaper discounter). If you order from them let me know, I can give you my email. If you register with another person's email both of you get credit on money spent. So, in essence both people get free $.

The Mummy is from their out of print (which actually they still sell most OOP figures) figures.

The Werewolf is from Reaper Bones. Check my blog on comments about the company, I saw your comments and we have some similar thoughts I think.

You're far more active on your blog than I am.  I try to post a few times a month, sometimes weekly.  I'm envious that you have regular folks to play 40k with.  There's a games workshop here but of the dozen or so games that I've played there, I didn't really enjoy gaming with any of those players...and I've yet to convince any of my friends to try it, even if I provide the armies to play.  Same goes for Hordes / Warmachine, so I have lots of miniatures that just stand around.

Have you been able to play any Strange Aeons games? I think I saw a post of yours somewhere saying you had no one local to play it with.

40k is a mixed bag around here. Trust me we have our fair share of douchebags that appear at open gaming and tournaments at various stores. What is nice is I have friends that I can just play friendly games with at my house or the cabana at the pool in my community. This fall we will be doing a 2012 Canbanahammer again, we get a few guys over, BBQ some food and throw some dice for games.

As for Strange Aeons, I have had some people say they are interested. The problem is getting together with them and in my area it could be another player an hour away. I just finally found a mailing group in the region of Tampa that does all sorts of stuff including Fanatic GW and historical gaming. So, I am slowly meeting people that play Fanatic, Legends of the Old West, Gladiator, Legends of the High Seas and Strange Aeons, or rather if they don't play they would like to learn. I also just found a group of players that play Disposible Heroes by Iron Ivan (WWII 28mm).

My problem is I work M-F, so either I game after work or weekends. The wife likes weekends and I also try to play some tournaments when possible because it gets the most games in a day in for me. Throw a few issues like my mother-in-law being in the hospital for almost 2 weeks and now at home trying to recover slowly among other things has really slowed the bus down for me to game. Heh, forgot to toss in home improvements such as gardening and fixing the house up....

To me party of the hobby is just enjoying the painting and getting that game in every now and then.

Well as busy as you sound, you seem to be doing a fine job producing painted works.  And I know everyone appreciated the contest that just finished up too!

Thanks, it was hard work, but they made the contest. I try to do what I can when I can.
