brilliant colours again, Captain!

@ Calimero
to me your minis are well done, but they somehow always seem to lack some depth. But the faces are excellent!

best wishes

Despite being in the presence of a master orator and scholar, the halberdier simply couldn't stay awake. I like the way he's leaning on his weapon :) Evocative group of figures Captain, the globe looks great.

I actually like Calimero's flat approach to painting surfaces- it's so opposite from what I do I find it pretty interesting.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

Thanks chaps, for the comments.

Nice clean work as ever, Calimero. Very characterful figures.

I should just say thanks to LAF member, Johan, who very kindly sent me a couple of the Mercator figures, which was this year's CRISIS giveaway. Lovely figure, and I hope I've done him justice.
He fits beautifully with the other figures here, which are from Stephan (LAF member, Regulator) Huber's excellent Pro Gloria line.
All superbly sculpted by the indefatigable Mr Hicks of course  :)

The globe is a triumph, I'll take it as read that it is geographically correct for the knowledge of the age too

Captain, my favorite entry of yours so far, those Whites are astonishingly well painted.

Great entries both.

The highlanders are deceptively simple, but there is excellent precision in those tartans.

As for the Captain's entry ... it's almost as if this is the ultimate subject for him. A brilliant lesson for us painters that fear colour!

yeah, i always loved the very distinctive style of calimero. a new LAFer could just consider it simple and flat, but it is a carateristic way of painting, and probably it takes the same time for the painting than the "Blood Way" (which i love!)
