I say Aubrey. Jolly rotten luck old chap. No heat ray for you.

The sickle in the fruitful field;
The sword he sung a song of death,
But could not make the sickle yield."

Oh if only Basil Rathbone & Nigel Bruce had been there! That aside, despite the early-morning-waiting-for-the-coffee-to-kick-in fog, it was a FINE REPORT to read & the photos were GLORIOUS. YET ANOTHER WELL DONE!

Thanks, DeafNala!
Basil and Nigel left with smokezombie last week, so they had no chance of affecting events, I am afraid.. ::)

A tough scenario that one. Think I'll have to leave the Quest scenarios until I've got a bit tougher all round. Alas, poor Regina Rash is no more - she will be gone, not forgotten, but replaced! May have to spend some of my map pieces on a medic...

Fair enough, Bert, it was a tough one.
Well, the Hound certainly was, it refused to lay down and die.
Even when it was killed it still came back to haunt you!
Medic?
I may have just what you need!
 ;)

Good battle report!

Thanks, styx!

Colour is sooomuch easier, but I cant help thinking that this one would have been better if it had been like this:

 ;)

Not this time, but maybe soon...

There were two other games last night.

Gav managed to pull off a pretty straightforward win, in a Rescue the Innocents scenario, after managing to find a gap in the wall of Zombies (when one collapsed dead for the second time after being given a dose of Serum C!) for his Rifleman to exploit and take out the Mad Scientist early on in the game.

The now-leaderless Zombies then tried to eat the three Hostages, managing to munch on two before the Agents got close enough to rescue the third, taking no casualties in the process..

The last game saw smokezombie play The Bagman with a huge 33BP team!
Lots of well-equipped Agents and the odd stick of dynamite being thrown around!
smokezombie had reason to be very grateful for his Lucky Kilt or his Character, Captain Jackson, may well not have been around for very long.

It turned into a massive firefight in the middle of the church, Tommy-gun bullets and .45 shells riddling the walls and huge dynamite-powered explosions deafening everyone inside.
The Resolve tests were coming thick and fast, and caused no end of trouble to both sides.
The Man from the Highlands and his team emerged victorious but did suffer two Major Injuries in the process, with Sister Beatrice, the tommy-toting Lieutenant suffering a Crippled result (only one action per turn in future- OUCH!) and the good man Jackson himself having the good fortune in rolling Emboldened (and gaining a free skill in the process!).

Another member of the team, Lizzie Duncan, picked up Read Languages.
It seems that the Lads and Ladies from north of the Wall may be tempted with the Occult Sciences!
 :o

They had better take care...

Re: M.O.O.S.(E)- Ministry of Occult Studies (England) UD 30/09 The Cursed Nurse
« Reply #813 on: 30 September 2012, 01:31:04 PM »
I finally finished that damn Nurse!
 :D

Well, sort of.
I must have tried to paint that face half a dozen times, but kept buggering it up.

Then, just as I thought that it was 'acceptable' (as it was really begining to give me the 'hump', and was considering just chucking it in the Dettol and starting all over again from scratch) and it was there or thereabouts, the lips had been redefined, disaster struck!

Well, not quite disaster, more like The Hand of the Missus!

As the paintbrush was just putting the last touch the lips, The Hand descends and pats me on the shoulder and says: "You still painting that one, darling?" and voila, the brush smears all over the face!

ARGGGHHHH!

By this time I was already well sick of the face of the Ugly Nurse, as she had become in my mind.
Containing the swear words that wanted to spew from my lips, I just gave her 'the Look'.

"Sorry!", she says, realising what she had done.

I knew that she didnt mean it, so just mumbled something like: "Dont worry, it has been cursed from the begining...."
I decided that it was indeed cursed and would just try to make good of what was there.

I continued and got it to look 'OK-ish' and decided that enough was enough.
That would do.
A figure cant be 'Cursed', surely, I thought.
So I just took a picture of it and thought nothing more.

Until, that is, I uploaded the picture!

Here is that picture of the 'Cursed Nurse', Matron Manley-Bild.

She looks even worse in the picture!

The picture seemed fine on the tiny screen on the camera, I will just have to try again with the camera, but thought that it was worth proving that some things are just destined not to be.

I will post another pic of her later, hopefully a better one, when I take some piccies of the new Asylum Guards.

What do you think?
Is she really 'Cursed'?

She was due to become the Special Character Medic for the Ministry, but bearing in mind her unfortunate history, it may be more appropriate for her to become an assistant to the Mad Scientist.....

She could set the concept of T.L.C. back a millennium or two all by herself. COOL & VERY WELL DONE mini.
I'd NEVER join a club that would have me as a member.  G.Marx

Thanks, but I think that you better wait for a better picture, maybe with a comparison.
She is a big girl!

When I say great figure I mean the paint job, not her figure, if you get what I mean. Great figure!

Nice addition Mason.
I've always liked that figure. She'll be great for your Strange Aeons games.

Personally, I'll give painting a face two tries. After that, I figure I'm just loading on too much paint and it was just meant to be.

It was bothering me so much that I wanted to get it right and kept making it worse.
I normally would not bother, but I liked the figure and thought it was perfect for my British-themed Ministry that I wanted to get it right.
I may not have done that but at least it is finished.

Here is a better pic (I hope!) of her posing with the Mad Scientist to show that she is a fairly big girl.
You cannot see it from this picture, but she really does have some chunky calves!

I hope it is an improvement.

Back later with the new Asylum Guards...

I think she should be a lurker for sure.
It's a good job Mason. Your being a little hard on yourself.

I agree, I think you are too hard on yourself. To be honest, if you really hate it. put a light coat of putty over the mouth to make a mask for her. Paint it and done!

Maybe I am, but you know how it is when a miniature is really giving you problems.
This one was just really bugging me.

I am starting to think that she SHOULD be a member of the Asylum Staff

That option had been discussed, but I wanted her 5 o'clock shadow visible if possible.

Thanks, einarolafson!
Just let me know which hospital it was, so that I know to avoid being ill in that area...

Right, now that the Nurse is finally off my back, it is time to move on to something that I AM happy with....

These fellas started life as New York Cops, but when I saw them up for sale on the Bazaar, undercoated in white, a thought struck me: That uniform is almost the same as my other Asylum Guards.
With very little effort (filing down the hats so that they resembled the headgear of the other Guards), they looked like they would fit the bill nicely.

The Armed Asylum Guards.

Here they are, lining up with the others, protecting Dr Dixwith Naychere as he does his rounds.

I think that they work pretty well.

What do you chaps reckon?
