The battle report.

Having realised that Bert had not played the Escape to Danger scenario, that is the mission that we played.

Here is the set-up that we used, representing a small hide-out of the Cult of the Purple-Headed Worm, through which the Thames Valley Division would have to pass to escape the Cult forces that were chasing them.

The Red dots represent the rough starting locations of the M.O.O.S.(E). team, whilst the Blue represents the Cultists.

The Thames Valley team had split into two groups to attempt to force their way through the waiting Cultists.

The head of the Division, Aubrey Werther-Minte, led one group himself that included Special Agent Dr Post-Humours (Medic) and Agent Gloria Stitts in the attempt to flank the Cult.

Meanwhile, Agent Isaac kite, Father De Betta, their Civilian Priest, and Agent Betty Swallocks would advance through the centre.

On the other side of the compound, the Cult were waiting for them.

Things did not start well for the Agents of His Majesty.
In the first turn they came under heavy fire, with Agent Kite going down (Minor Injury) and Father De Betta doing a runner as a result!
This left the team in a bit of a quandary, as two of the team were now out of Command distance, and they spent a turn or two reorganising themselves and, having reformed, headed off in the direction that Aubrey had originally taken.

The Cult had not been idle while this was happening, and had gotten themselves in a good enveloping position, ready to ambush the team as they advanced.

Realising that they were in danger of being surrounded, Werther-Minte ordered Agent Gloria Stitts forward to try and clear the way ahead with her trusty Tommy-gun.

Having already dealt with a Cultist, similarly armed with a Thompson, and gunning him down in a hail of lead, she turned her attentions to two more of the evil, hooded Cult members lurking in wait behind the well.

Once again proving her skill with the rapid-firing weapon, she opened fire, gunning one of them down and incapacitating the other.

As the remaining Cultist rose, in some serious pain and bleeding profusely, he was mercilessly gunned down to join his fellow bleeding to death on the floor.

Unfortunately for Gloria, whilst she was occupied with the Cultists behind the well, a Cult Maniac had been noisily advancing on her using the van between them as cover.

Faced with this howling banshee, Gloria, shocked by the caterwauling lunatic, panicked and froze, falling to her knees in Fear......

......and promptly had her head caved in with a lead filled Teddy-Bear!

With two Agents down, it was starting to look grim for the Thames Valley team...

Love it..
Tho I was sad to see Issac taken out so early. I wanted to see if he'd ever find the nerve to use this twin pistols again.
( I bloody love Gloria Stitts  ;D )

Is that a sneaky suicide cultist in there Mason? A rather under used lurker choice at the moment.

GREAT REPORT & COOL PHOTOS! The Loony Lady with the Vorpal Teddy from HELL! is perhaps the most dangerous of all S.A's Foul Minions.

By the way, I found a new source for cool cars most of which are about 1/43 scale (Model Railroader rated them as closer to 1:48):
http://www.phoenixtoys.com/shop/
The Studebaker Hearse was the featured model in M.R.:

Thanks, smokezombie!
Isaac's ballistaphobia now extends to opponents firing guns as well...only kidding.

P.S. I thought it was a given, that EVERYONE loves Gloria Stitts!
 ;)

Well spotted, mate!
Cant sneak a Suicidal Bob past you, can we?
Underused?
That is because they always die.
One way or the other...

A nice car with some lovely detailing so a good find. $20 is a bit steep for me tho. I just pick up ones going cheap on eBay.

...still any lurker group worth it's salt needs a good quality hearse  :D

Escape into Danger AAR (Part 2)

With two Agents down and a Maniac on the loose, things were looking a little fraught for the Thames Valley Division.

Until Agent Betty Swallocks took matters into her own hands and stepped around the side of the building and levelled her Shotgun at the screaming woman.

Receiving the benefit of both barrels resulted in the cessation of the terrible wailing, to be replaced by an incoherent whimper as the Maniac fell to the ground.

Seizing the opportunity, Father De Betta charged forward and silenced the Maniac with a sharp rap to the head with his Holy Tome!

With several of their members out of the game, the Cult Leader reorganised his followers, paying particular attention to Suicidal Bob, keeping him at a safe distance with his Tommy-gun.

The Agents of the Realm advanced on and engaged the Cultists in a prolonged firefight, using the stack of barrels and crates as cover. Unfortunately for them, they lost the fire-power provided by Betty Swallocks Shotgun as she fell to the Tommy-gun wielding Cult Leader.

Things were getting tense as casualties were beginning to mount up on both sides.
Father De Betta had fallen, as had two of the Cultists accompanying the Leader.

The Cult Leader, who had, up until this point, been carefully shepherding the Suicide Cultist into position, threw caution to the wind and ordered his remaining follower forward, towards the last two members of the M.O.O.S.(E). team.
Suicide Bob was ordered to perform his final task in his service of the Worm!

In true Suicide Cultist fashion, and probably showing a little too much exuberance for the fragile packages strapped to his torso to cope with, he ended his existence in the service of the Purple-Headed Worm in spectacular fashion!
To make matters worse, he was nowhere near anyone else when he met his demise...

Seeing his unfortunate minion explode into a thousand pieces, the Cult Leader was now on his own.
Taking matters in his own hands, he opened fire on Aubrey and the Doctor, felling Aubrey and causing the Doctor to flee!

It was now down to the Last Man Standing on both sides.

Realising that it was now all down to him, Dr Post-Humours steeled himself and drew his Bowie Knife.

Seeing that the Medic had opted to make a fight of it, the Cult Leader opened fire on him, emptying his magazine.
When the smoke cleared he was amazed to see that, not only was the Medic still standing, but he had drawn a huge blade from within his medical bag and was charging towards him!

Only having time to draw his own sacrificial dagger, the Cult Leader braced himself for the attack..

The fight that ensued was seriously tense and went on for several turns, as the two closely-matched opponents drew blood on a number of occasions, but failed to land a telling blow on their opponent.
Finally, summoning all his reserves, the good Doctor managed to pierc the fanatic's defenses and plunged his blade deep into the chest of the Cult Leader, killing him instantly.

That was probably the closest game of Strange Aeons of the campaign so far, with the M.O.O.S.(E). team emerging triumphant.
But only just!
The Medic used his abilities to reduce the Major Injury suffered by Aubrey to a Minor.
The remaining two casualties who received Major Injuries were very fortunate: Gloria Stitts made a Full Recovery and the Civilian, Father De Betta, managed to survive.

No Map Pieces for the Agents, no skills either, but I think that Legionnaire Bert was grateful to not only grab a Win, but also that no-one died in the process.

How absolutely gutting. To win, find no map pieces and not even be able to assign a new skill.
That's a rum doo fella.
Cracking report. I do believe my last game ( ?also escape into danger) came down to big Al McGrahee on his tod vs a lone cultist. I have since resolved to start taking some antihypertensive medication before my next game with Mason.

Lovely priest mini by the way. Who makes that chappy?

EXCELLENT REPORT! It shatters the rumored invincibility of the Teddy armed Loony myth. Congrats on the win Bert!

That is the general consensus of opinion within our group whenever a Maniac appears on the table.
Put two down and its wet trousers time!

Cheers, smokezombie!
I am being totally honest that Bert was just happy to win.
Things could have been so much worse if it was not for a few of the team pulling off some truly heroic actions at just the right time.
That Medic of his really pulled his arse out of the fire, not only winning the game for him, but saving Aubrey from a Major Injury roll.
(Which Bert rolled to see what he would have got. A result of DEAD! would have been sustained!)
As the drugs: I am not sure that will help... :D

Lovely priest mini by the way. Who makes that chappy?

No idea, mate.
I bought him on the Bazaar, but will make enquiries.
You wont want one when you see the Scottish clergyman that is waiting for you, though!
 ;)

It may shatter the rumour, but it wont stop them bricking it whenever they see her and her not so cuddly friend!
