My wife would disown me and cut off my balls if we went to London and I tried to game!  lol

 lol
Well, I do not want to be held responsible for your gelding, do I...?

The suspenders is killing me - can't wait for the AAR; I wanna see how it all panned out...

"You played in the game, knucklehead!"

Oh...

 :D

 lol
You plonker, Bertie!

Thanks for the clarification. The book so far is really good and I've got loads of ideas bubbling away, I just need to find the time and space to do something about it!

Good luck.
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
 :D

AAH! An idyllic setting: lovely rustic buildings nestled in green & pleasant fields & rolling hills bedeck with a riot of wild flowers with the smell of fresh roadkill & burning vehicles in the air promising an interesting evening.

The smell of napalm in the evening...
Is that what you were referring to, Al?
;)

Likewise...but only if you will pay for my plane ticket... :'(

Great looking spread as usual. Can't wait for more!!!

If only, Mike, if only...

More is due very soon.
Thank you!

Looks great Paul

Perhaps I should head over to se London one night if you would care to invite me?

Cheers, Giles!
Of course, mate.
Consider it an open invite.
We wil just have to sort out a time for you to dip your toe in the SA waters.
I will give you a bell over the weekend.
 :)

Well, some of you wanted more....

I am not ready with the first part of the AAR just yet.
That will surface tomorrow.

For now, how about a shot of the evil Dr Francis Nicholas Schteiner gathering his forces in anticipation of the imminent arrival of the team from M.O.O.S.(E)....?

He gathers them around the pile of dead bodies....

.....or not-so-dead bodies, as it turns out!

Thank you, sir.

Scenario Six of This Green and Unpleasant Land: Escape to the Safe Zone.....?

Part One

Aubrey and his team from the Thames Valley Division had almost completed their mission.
They had entered the Infacted Zone and located Dr Jarse.
Now all they had to do was get him out of the area before the Governmaent forces moved in and completed the 'cleansing' of the affected area.

The 'cleansing' would take the form of everything that had been living in the area, man and beast, being burnt to a cinder and thereby, hopefully, containing the outbreak.

Aubrey had arranged for an area of the cordon to be left clear to enable them to escape from the condemned area, but they had to do it now.
There was no time to waste....

Locating the area that had been pre-arranged, Aubrey gathered his team around the Village Memorial and briefed them on their final mission.

He planned to make a run for the church grounds and proceed from there, taking charge of Dr Jarse personally.

On the other side of the church, Dr Francis Nicholas Steiner gathered his 'troops' around him, taking care with his box of syringes and powering up his automatic rifle.

Meanwhile, the pet Maniac of the Doctor had been sent around the Graveyard and told to wait there until told otherwise...

Aubrey led the team towards the church, dragging the trussed-up Dr Jarse with him...

Meanwhile, Dr Steiner led his group to the site of the pile of cadavers and prepared his Serums...

....whilst the Maniac stood dribbling and breathing heavily at the edge of the Graveyard, eager to be let off of her leash.

Aubrey led his team towards the apparent safety of the holy ground, but his team were starting to get edgy...

....where were the Afflicted?

The mad ramblings and threats issuing from the mouth of Dr Jarse were also beginning to affect the team.
Until Aubrey ordered the lads to hold him still while he gagged him that is!

Whilst the forces of His Majesty had been advancing, the Mad Scientist had been injecting serum into his charges, but to no beneficial effect so far.
He had managed to put two of them permanently to rest, though....

Could the team escape?

Would the evil Scientist stop them and rescue Dr Jarse?

More later....

There is no answer, really...

Escape to the Safe Zone.....?

Part Two

As the forces of undeath crept up on them, the team from the Thames Valley made to enter the churchyard.

Maybe they thought that holy ground would deter the Afflicted...

The Mad Scientist seemed quite content to let them have the ground around the church, as he continued to inject serums into his charges.
However, he still was having no appreciable effect.

He had sent a couple of the undead forward, towards the forces of the Crown to delay them as much as possible.
He also told the Maniac to wait at the edge of the Graveyard for the right moment to pounce...

Randy decided to open fire on the advancing horde, climbing on the wall for a better shot...

Unfortunately for Randy his Thompson chose this precise moment to Jam.
(To rub salt into the wound he also failed to hit with the other two shots).

***Unfortunately all the pictures for the next few turns were terrible.
I would shoot the cameraman, but he happens to be writing this AAR too.  ;)
Sorry...***

As Randy stood on the wall clearing the Jam, he failed to notice that the Mad Scientist had drawn a bead on him until it was too late.
A fusilade of lead met his ample frame and he toppled from the wall and fell to the ground in a swelling pool of blood.

First blood to the Lurkers!

Seeing Randy fall to the ground proved too Gloria felt her temper fraying.
Unable to control herself any longer she drew her Bowie knife and rushed into combat, disregarding the Tommy gun she was carrying!

Unfortunately for her she tripped as she ran forward allowing one of the Undead to pounce upon her and sink its teeth into her throat!

A second Agent was down, and to make matters worse both of the team's Thompsons were now out of the game.
Things were starting to look pretty desperate for the Agents of His Majesty.
 :o

Back later with the final installment...

GREAT REPORT! The Gang from Thames Valley seem to be in the "if it wasn't for bad luck, they'd have no luck at all" category....it does make for an exciting report though.

You seem to share the same thoughts as Bert at that point.

Escape to Safe Zone.....?

Part Three

With two members of the team bleeding on the ground, and both Thompson machine guns out of action, the pressure was really mounting on Aubrey and the remaining members of the group.

Aubrey led Father deBetta into the churchyard, dragging Dr Jarse with them.
He ordered Patrick the Postman and Remington to cover their advance as he knew that there was a Maniac lurking somewhere in the graveyard on their left.

At this point, seeing the Thames Valley team had split their forces, Dr Jarse unleashed the screaming Maniac onto their flank.

Both Patrick the Postman, with his .22, and Remington, letting loose with his Shotgun, opened fire on the crazed woman.

Although both had managed to hit her as she advanced, the howling lunatic seemed oblivious to the damage inflicted on her flesh by the pellets and small calibre bullets.

She ran headlong through the hail of lead and lay about her with her blood-encrusted cleaver.

The filthy weapon tore into Remington, opening huge rents in his flesh.

The Threshold Agent collapsed to the ground, bleeding from several deep wounds, his lifeblood seeping into the hard packed earth.

This sight proved too much for Patrick and the Postie quickly took to his heels and fled!

Things were now looking desperately grim for Aubrey, who continued into the churchyard with Father deBetta.

Unfortunately they had not noticed the Zombie that had entered the area from the rear as it now charged Aubrey himself.

Father deBetta was certainly not unduly worried by this turn of events, as he had seen Aubrey cut down countless Undead with his trusty sword stick.

Only that did not happen.

Not this time...

Uncharacteristically, as the Zombie closed on him, Aubrey turned and fled!

Hearing Father deBetta calling upon divine intervention to save them, Aubrey came to his senses and turned to face the Undead creature.

Drawing his sword stick, and feeling more than a little embarassed at his temporary loss of heart, he layed into the creature with a vengeance, chopping it into pieces!

Seeing his leader cutting the Zombie down so savagely, Father deBetta took charge of his senses and dragged Dr Jarse over the wall and out of the churchyard.

They only had to make it a little further and they would reach the safety of the crop fields...

 lol lol
That is about right, mate.
Those 'crop sprayers' that are circling the area are not dropping pesticides.....!

Escape to the Safe Zone.....?

Part Four.

The team was in a bad way.
Three members down and the Postie on the run, being chased down by a vengeful Maniac.

It was going to be down to Aubrey and Father deBetta to save the day.

The only problem with that was the not-so-dead were closing in...and there were a lot more of them!

The M.O.O.S.(E). Agents made a break for the cropfields, unfortunately for them the Undead were gathered in some numbers in the area and intercepted them before they could reach the safety of the fields.

Both Aubrey, who had taken Dr Jarse back under his personal control, and Father deBetta quickly found themselves engaged by former inhabitants of this quiet Oxfordshire village.
They were certainly not as friendly as they used to be.

Aubrey made short work of his opponent, the former village school teacher, lopping its head from its shoulders in his fury.

The same could not be said of the unfortunate Father deBetta, though, who fell to his opponent under a flurry of blows.
The tough clergyman had been through a lot, suffering many injuries during his time with the team.
His luck had just run out.

Aubrey was now alone....

Last man standing, and with a handcuffed Mad Scientist to control, things were looking pretty grim for Aubrey.

The enemy hordes were closing in, but he was not far from safety.

It was going to be tough and suddenly it got a whole lot tougher.

Dr Steiner had finally managed to find his favourite serum and wasted no time inserting it into the husk of a former farm labourer.

The resulting transformaton was simply stunning.

Face distorting, muscles twisting, warping and enlarging, the former farmhand was transformed into a hideous parody of human life.

The evil Doctor had finally suceeded.
He had created a Blasphemous Construct!

Things had just gotten a whole lot worse for Aubrey...

Brer Rabbit...there is a name that I have not heard in a long time.

Take the advice, Aubrey.
It cannot do any harm surely....

Dont mince your words, mate.
Say it how you see it, why dont ya?
 ;)

Escape to the Safe Zone.....?

Part Five.

Aubrey had seen the rest of his team fall one by one, and now he was all alone.
He had to get Dr Jarse out of the doomed area, if only to go some way towards justifying the sacrifice made by his comrades.

He knew that the odds were stacked against him, especially as the evil Dr Steiner had managed to create a Blaspemous Construct...

Seeing the reawakened remains of the dead approaching, and a monstrous hulk of a creature trailing in their wake, he knew he did not have much time, he had to flee for the safety of the crop fields immediately.

Throwing the evil Dr Jarse bodily over the hedgerow, he piled over after him.

Upon hearing a great snapping and tearing sound behind him, Aubrey turned in his flight to see the huge bulk of a Blasphemous Construct bearing down upon him, ripping the hedge apart in its fury to reach him.

Luckily for Aubrey the unholy creature seemed to become dumbstruck as it tried to negotiate the crops that were in its way and stopped to vent its frustration upon them, ignoring the desperate instructions of its creator.

Realising that Aubrey would make good his escape with Dr Jarse if he waited for the Construct, the Mad Scientist rushed to intercept him, summoning the rest of his minions at the same time.

He manouvered himself and his creatures in such a way as to block Aubrey's escape whilst attempting to free his bound and gagged colleague from the clutches of the Ministry man in the process.

With Aubrey trapped with no avenue of escape, the Mad Dr Steiner summoned forth his latest creation to crush the impudent Ministry man.
With a terrifying bellow the Construct surged forward and crashed into the steadfast Aubrey and attempted to grapple him in a bear hug.

Aubrey held his ground and fought like the cornered and desperate man that he was, wounding the creature several times whilst fending off the attentions of the other undead that surrounded him.

Unfortunately it came down to the inevitable and the brave team leader fell to the blows inflicted upon him.

Just as the blow that finally pummeled him to the ground landed, the air was lit with a fiery incandescence as the Government forces closed in, completing the closing of their cordon and proceeded to burn everything within the contaminated area.

The village was nothing more than a smoke churning inferno that could be seen for miles around.
Hideous screeching and wailing emanated from the flames as unnatural creatures succumbed to the flames.

The intention was for nothing to survive and surely nothing could live through that inferno.

Unfortunately this looked like including Aubrey and his team...
