I think he works in the office below me.

You are on a roll at the moment with your sculpting, modelling and painting!

 lol lol
Not really, mate.
I have still to do the last figure for the mould (and it is only a dollie...) and have hit a bit of a lack of mojo to do it.
Hope to get it done this weekend as I want to send them off on Monday.
Fingers crossed.

Snakes !

On a plane?

 lol lol
Not quite...
Those green things are tentacles.
(I really should take a better picture.....sorry.)

This should give you a better idea.....

Giant Deep One!

Another Bazaar purchase that has just been given additional shading and rebasing.
It is a plastic toy of some sort, no idea where from. Pokemon maybe...?
He really is a big fella, as that is a 50mm base he is standing on.

I think it works pretty well.

I really like that giant deep one. I reckon you could sculpt one yourself with your skills!

I am totally not familiar with the Cthulhu stuff, yet let me ask a question: how are the deep ones of the 19th century not the Ocean Kaiju of the near future?

has noone thought of a connection like that? Deep ones mutated by pacific nukular explosions?

I would like to get my hands on another one to make a 'submerged' model, but now you mention it, it cant be that difficult, can it?
 ;)

Cheers, styx!
I only looked on the Bazaar, mate.
Someone else 'found' it.

I would like to know what it is, though.....

I had to look up 'Kaiju', but the results I got suggest they could well be related.

Look up cuthulhutech. It is pretty much Evangelion meets lovecraft. While the deep ones actually arent Kaiju in there it does have migo mecha and deep ones in power armor. And one hell of a dark overtone.

everybody is a fandom-ite....

OK, so like acrobatically challenged actors in rubber suits pretending to destroy miniature models  and scenery as well as fighting each other in cheesy ancient japanese movies...
of alleged cult status.....  o_o

whatever... >:D 8)

Why I do believe  the gauntlet has been thrown...

Lets not clog up this topic with that discussion.  :D

I don't care about Toho Studios or Pacific Rim
I was just making a comparison about sea monsters, past and future

I think it could add to the narrative

so, has anyone thought about combining? or is there a problem because the deep ones are actually covert and secretive whereas Kaiju are.... pretty obvious?

Exactly, even cthulhu tech which has mecha and giant monsters keeps the "esoteric order of dagon" pretty much on the down low.

That being said I can see your point. Big terrible things in the sea plus atomic explosion equals huge terrible thing in the sea. It makes sense I suppose. Not sure where I would go from there tough.

as I am neither familiar with the Kaiju genre - does it necessary has to include the giant battlesuits? the few rubbersuit movies I saw were about the monsters

of course one could combine VSF/steampunk with gigantic steam driven battlesuits....

OK then....monsters, monsters, monsters......
 ;)

Back to the plastic toy 'Deep One'...

This is to show how big he is and the rest of the figures that will form the core of this group...

More will be added to the group as I find them, including a few of my own Cultists to form the human congregation of the Order.
