no, just unusual and refreshing. I prefer it this way for the same reasons You named and many more
The Old West game for BLAM will be played with a more 'conventional' set-up, in order to fit all the needed buildings on to the table.
Most games I play will set up with more of an 'angle' on the set-up.
I prefer the look of it.
No matter how the game played, the table was a visual success...a BEAUTIFUL creation!
Cheers, Al!

Speaking of the game......
The scenario was pretty straightforward, with the Cavalry and Texas Rangers hot on the trail of the Notorious Clump Gang.
They had chased them up into the mountains, both parties having to abandon their horses and continue on foot.
When the Clumps discovered that it was a small patrol and not a full troop of Cavalry that was pursuing them, they decided to stand and fight it out in the old deserted mining town of Dunliving.....
The shoot-out would take place in the main street, all that was left of the once thriving mining camp.

The Cavalry and Rangers quickly set up a hasty barricade to prevent the Outlaws from escaping.

Ma Clump quickly got into cover and ordered her Boys to prepare themselves to inflict a serious case of whoop-ass on the Lawmen...

A serious fire fight quickly followed, lead flying with a serious crescendo of noise to accompany it (

)......the whooping of the Clumps adding to the cacophony.

Of course, all the noise may have been the cause but maybe the formerly-living inhabitants of Dunliving would have come out to 'Howdy!' anyway.
Whatever the cause, come out to play they did....

They seemed to have had a particular interest in the Brewery before they had departed this world and came out to introduce themselves to the Cavalry who were clustered around their barricade...

The Cavalry were not the only ones who were on the receiving a 'loving embrace' from the undead, however...the dead seemed to be everywhere!

The Lawmen seemed to suffer the worst of it, though, becoming overwhelmed with dead people...

The casualties inflicted by the walking dead turned out to be too much and the Cavalry were eventually taken out by the combined firepower of the Clumps and the close attentions of the zombies and were eventually destroyed, allowing the Clump Gang to escape and continue their murderous rampage.
