I would love some real good close up shots of your stone work, perhaps even a how to. You really seem to have a system down for it!

The bricks are quite simple to do. They just take a bit of time.
We started of by sanding the boards flat. We then used a craft knife to mark off the stone work. We then used a blunt pencil to scribe over the cut line to open them up a bit. We then use a rough stone, pressed into the foam to make it look more like stone and give a better surface for painting.







To do the bigger areas we split them into smaller sections and then filled them in. It makes it more managable. We also scribed in some cracks using the knife and pencil method.

Is it maybe worth using different coloured glazes to pick out certain bricks? It might break up the brown a bit.

That's a good idea, if they are too different you can knock them back a bit with another drybrush.

I would say it'd be very worthwhile to add a little variation. You can keep it fairly subtle - a few slight tonal variations will go a long way.

Yes! This this this.

The few you've added so far are nice standouts.

The idea is that the stone is probably all from the same quarry or district, but perhaps not all from the exact same vein or deposit. So there will be some slight variation throughout.
