Guess How I'm Going To Make My 15mm Vaults Of Opar

You guys have got to take a look at this:

http://cimorra.blogspot.com/2011/09/rollenspiel-3d-dungeon-mal-anders.html

And now this!

http://gidian-gelaende.de/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1345

I don't read a word of German, so all I can do is drool over those pics.

I plan to have a surface board for Edgar Rice Burroughs' Lost City Of Opar.  But what to do about the multi-level aspect of the gold vaults remained a mystery to me until now:

That guy makes building vertical terrain look so easy.  I can't wait to try it.

And look at what I've chosen to be my 15mm Oparian warriors:

And, when someone gets a chance, could I get some pointers on how to post photos and images directly onto a post.

Thanks a million!

Paste your image URL into your post, highlight it, then click the little "Image" button. It's second from the left, right above the row of green Frankenstein smiley faces.

Or just type "img" before and "/img" after the URL, with square brackets where I put quotes.

Here's your deviantart jpg:

Thanks Wirelizard!!!

OK.  Let's try that . . .

Here's what I plan to use as the Oparian warriors:

Pretty close, wouldn't you say?

As for the terrain section that gentleman made, I know mine will never be as multi-floored:

As for the stone work within the vaults, this looks a little like what I'm shooting for:

But perhaps with some Egyptian motifs worked into it:

And I must make a proper throne room too, dedicated to "the flaming god":

The surface portion of the city will be a rubble version of this type of "Hyborian" architecture:

And will also include some of these simple interior architectural elements (from the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas):

Where what remains of the Atlantean outpost ventures out from time to time:

Alex,

LOL.  Make it for 28mm?  Not yet, my friend.  First comes 15mm.  If that does well, then I'll know what to do and what not to do with the more noticeable 28mm terrain.

For La I bought this set from Black Hat a while back:

http://www.blackhat.co.uk/online_shop/product_info.php?cPath=107_110_112&products_id=1053&osCsid=0571695ea2600b05bc27f39c82bd323b

There were other suggestions here too:

Either way, she will get extra attention when I paint her up:

Hope that helps.

These are some of the very best terrain tutorials I have ever seen. They put my modelling projects to shame and I feel very humble.

Thank you for sharing the images and thoughts - I will follow this post with some interest.

Tony,

Here's another amazing example of how the vaults could be done, but with carved doorways instead of the timber beam supports:
