Foundry OOP and Limited Editions
« on: April 16, 2012, 08:01:08 PM »
Lads I thought it might be interesting to old and new hands alike to explore what specials/one offs/limited editions Foundry brought out across the years regarding its Darkest Africa range.
Here are the ones I am aware of and hopefully the more knowledgeable folk on the forum can complete this list:

1) Two Arabs with pistols - Foundry used to include these poses in its packs but has stopped now.

2) A native holding a parasol. The guy in the center of that pic (I think I lifted the pic off the forum at some point in the past but I can't recall where so I can give due credit to the painter).

3) Again a pic from inside the Dallimore book. I think Plynkes said these four were given away as freebies with large orders?

4) An explorer named Giles sitting in a pot boiling away! lol

Old Glory has a boiling Pirate in their Pirates range, he is not looking in perticular as a pirate, he could be a colonial random white guy too.

I just thought I would mention it if it was just a guy boiling you wanted.

Jonas it looks like Old Glory has included the pirate bloke you mentioned in one of their Darkest Africa packs as well. I like the guy in the throne and the two blokes with the fans and also the bound captives but I have yet to take the step of purchasing this pack.

These are the character ones I know of from my old flier.  When foundry switched form eight figures to six per pack.  We also lost several generic poses but there are to many to list here.  However when I made my order a few years back I still received some of these figures in there packs of 8.  I received sultan Zemios bodyguards with a pack of Azande musket men.  I also received one eyed Abdul with my Zanzibari
characters pack, as well as Kamrasi with my tribal warriors pack.  I have also heard rumors that you can still receive the British elite officer every now and then in a pack. Also at one time the Masai prince was available in a pack by itself.   The others I'm guessing are sitting lonely on a shelf somewhere.  I would love to get my hands on the Zanzibari warchief and body guards, as well as the high chief and retinue if anyone has one collecting dust.

Who loves ya baby! lol

I have the High Chief (the sitting one named Marungu) in duplicate mate and you can have him for free. I got one off ebay and then I placed an order for 3-4 regiments from Foundry last September and they chucked one of those in as well. Sorry but I don't have his retinue. Send us a pm.

Re the rest;
I have Sultan Zemio but not his bodyguards. Also have the two civilians to their right, the Askari characters (with the exception of Kevin), One Eyed Abdul (but not Kamrasi), the crouching civilian named Zeppo (but not the other two Faithful Camp Guards) and I also managed to get my mitts on the nagging wife and the bloke with the parasol.

I thought I knew them all, yet I am confronted with Sir Giles. Fuck. I thought I had the entire DA range...

+1 on that one!
Or well, I'm still looking for One-Eyed Abdul, and that's as impossible as the Giles to get nowadays :(

You can still receive him in this pack.  It is hit in miss though.  I got him last year when I made a big order.

It really sucks paying the cash though not knowing if you will get the figure.......so I do feel your pain.

I got my Abdul off Ebay where he does crop up from time to time. It takes a bit of patience but you will eventually get him.

Well, I've got 'em all, (though no spares) except for Sir Giles, who I never before suspected to exist.

Anybody know the identities of the other figures I can see in that pack ?

Thanks Jonas, particularly the Foundry one I'd like but the Old Glory pirate sets are also on my longer term wants list................to go with the multitude of unpainted Foundry pirates in the lead mountain  :)
