I'm looking for a wee bit of advice. I was playing around with some blue foam today and I came up with the follow. This is the first time I've really tried scribing brick. I'm fairly happy with the blue foam bricks.



Not sure about the arches... I drew them free hand. Also I realise that I need to have a look at some pictures of arches because the brick work is wrong. If anyone could provide some hints and tips that would be great.



This next picture gives you an idea of the thickness of the wall section... it's just shy of 1cm.



The next two images give an idea of the height... I'm wondering it is slightly too high?




Any advice on this would be great. Obviously I've got alot of work to do on the arches especially. Oh and sorry for the iphone pictures.

Andy Hello stranger.
I draw an arch on cardboard and use it as a template to draw on to the foam.

You could do with the stones around the arch, key stone etc
I mark the stone on the template as well to transfer them to the foam as well

Cheers Colin, I'll give that a try. I'll probably get pretty good results drawing it on the computer. I'll definitely need to sort out the keystones.

With regards to height, it looks fine to me. Assuming you aren't intending to do lots of very narrow corridors it won't be an issue and looks better if you add larger creatures. I'm actually going to be making slightly taller walls for my Egyptian complex when I remake it as I almost never have narrow areas and taller walls look better (and fit the pillars better).

Wotcha,  looks fine to me but the freehand is a bit wonky for something like an arch.  I always cheat and draw them in CAD then print off as templates.  Much quicker than old school (see what I did there ) pen, ruler and compass with the bonus of being able to print multiples if needed.

So after the long wait, Reaper Bones I has finally arrived! It seems that the royal mail sent it back to reaper without informing me that it had arrived!


I was pretty impressed with what I got; the Dracolich is pretty huge. That is it sitting next to a GW skeleton and a copplestone miniature. I'm not even sure how I'm going to begin to paint it.



What is annoying is that the base would make an amazing terrain piece, and currently the dragon isn't sitting on it too well.

All I'm hearing there is that you want to stick the dragon on another base and use that one as terrain.... so get on with it

A few other dragons and a whole bunch of fantasy based stuff. Giants, griffons, orcs, heroes etc. It's all manufactured from the bones plastic- which works well for some miniatures but some of the smaller ones aren't all that useful. Still it was well worth the money that I paid for it.

Continued from this post

So I finally got around to finishing the scribing of the floor tiles. Here is the results of several evenings worth of scribing. They've currently been mounted on 3mm MDF, the PVA is drying. I'm hoping to spend tomorrow sealing them with a PVA/Water mix before spraying them black.

That is a nice bit of scribing there, mate.
 

Careful, though, as I hear that blue foam is dangerous.
Before you know it you will be cutting it up into tiny ikkal blocks and playing 'lego' with it like the other nutters around here.
You will be fitted for a straight jacket before you know it.
 

Good to see you back at it, though.
