Yep, Vox Populi. I had talked on email with Matt Weeks but apparently there was no further progress. I have purchased Najewitz Modellbau Roman buildings as well as a Grand manner Roman/Arthurian Villa. Recently I also bought a bundle of market stalls and trade type goods to use for this type of game but they are on hold for now. Mind you, the forthcoming Dux Britannarium rules might see a use for these figures as well.
Cheers,

The Modelbau buildings are fantastic, I have been sorely tempted... but I think I will first try to scratchbuild an  insula with foamcore, that will fit into my storage boxes.   Their gate looks brilliant, too.

I have a villa, temple etc.   They are on the blog under terrain.     What I really need are  multi-storey city buildings.

Cheers, Simon

This looks very nice, like it, but I'm afraid I didn't get that basing thing. Are the figures sticked and supposed to be moved together with that large base incl. table?

Yes, Prof.  They are going to be a wargame unit, rather than skirmish based, like yours.  They will be lugging an entire market around with them.  ;-)  But they are only going to fight in towns hence the cobbles and woodwork.   I'll post a WIP shot tomorrow.

I am coming around to the idea of Roman skirmish though, I might do some more, singly based, later on.

Cheers, Simon

Nice idea, Simon, unusual but surely very interesting. Looking forward to see more!

Prof, for your various Roman projects, have you looked at the Classical range from Aventine?  Lurking amongst the gladiators, there are figures that would pass for Numidian/African or as farmers, and they are all built on the Copplestone dollies.  The 3 cavalry are particularly nice.

Aha, I'd missed him, very nice.

Is the figure with the raised fist Foundry?

Neat thread and project. Those Aventine rioters you posted in the first pic... are they conversions? What are they sold as? I couldn't find them on the website. They look like they'll do for a project I've been wanting to start.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

Hi Dr Mathias, I was a bit naughty because I didn't say that they are simple conversions (plastic card for bricks, slight repositioning of arms), from the Republican LI RR004 Leves bareheaded pack.  I thought it would be funny if Aventine Keith was harrassed by people asking for his "Roman Rioters".   ;-)
