-and following is the lateset addition to chalrestown the new hotel. painstaakingly modelled onto an orange juice carton. (yes strip by strip aaagghhhh)

-a few shots of the town

-the train

-the saloon. charlestowns oldest "resident"

i still have the upstairs somewhere. in some state of desperate breakage. i will get round to it some day.
-and the water tower.

any comments and stuff is apreciated. im also struggling to find a way to incorperate upstairs inot my game. at the moment there is no need for second floors or interiors. but i like them so if any one could help me there. ?

Looking good Wisecrack :)

For a second floor there are two ways you can go

If building a new building break the model in half so you have a ground floor and second floor and put a florr onto the upper half so it sits on the ground floor walls (hope that makes sense) also remember to make lift off rooves.

or with your existing buildings cut a flat piece of card slightly smaller than the internal dimensions of the building, this will be your second floor. Then place on each of the walls (at the height your secnd floor should be) a couple of batons, this could be card etc. Hopefully (you need a bit of trial and error here) you can then place the card upper floor into the building - remember to have something that can be used as a handle to lift it out, I have used a crate, table etc so it doesnt look too out of place.

thanks for the advice. ive had a crack at some insides and second floors (the hotel, the saloon, the gun shop) but i just want maybe something that they could be used for ? i was thinking maybe event cards. e.g. a small disc with a randomly sellected number. and if you roll a 6 on a d6 its turned over. and it can link ot an event writen prior to the game. and it could be good e.g. a stick of dynamite or an extra move. or it could be bad in the sense of a tray of glass falling and all good guys within 6 getting a free move towards the character. ? any thoughts?

I think the main benefit of using a second floor is that it gives you more cover in your game, better or worse angles to shoot from (I once dominated a shoot out by having a guy at a window at the top of the street with a winchester, anything moved in the street and I shot at them)

Falls, climbing and dropping or throwing things is also a good idea. Scatter dice for this are ideal

Did you make all the buildings?

Hi ..Anyone who scratch builds terrain has my admiration, Its not easy !
Using cheap / scrap materials aswell is great.

I now find myself buying resin buildings and converting / personalising them rather than scratch building because I crave the finer details and
overall look of a table rather than the pratical gaming value of it ! My bad!
Some of my terrain has become more like a static model railway display
than a gaming set. I miss making my own creations and must get back to
it !

For hints and ideas about details.. I would recomend re-watching all them
western films and concentrate your attention on the backgrounds and sets,
this terrible chore? will give loads of inspiration for details that
make a piece just that little bit more believable. Old photographs and
pictures are also a good source of inspiration.

I'm currently trying to work out how to show meat and poultry hanging
outside my towns Meat market.

But remember that you are only trying to give an impression of something
rather than a complete miniature reproduction ...or you'll drive yourself mad !
When you have to shoot, shoot don't talk.

so it turns out charlstowns neighbouring town hanville. (short for village of hangings) a small mexican hamlet west of charlstown. wel basicly it decided to get built. so the minaiture men put up some card foundations then they said oh hey we havent got any texture on these adobes. sois my first adobe still very much wip.

i need help texturing the building without obscuring the ladder or door etc. . this is my "pilot" building in hanville. and here are some other bits im working on.

a cart of some type usig playmobil wheels.

some removable stairs foor two story buildings.

some graves for zomie deadwood (i think) games.

I like the idea of attaching the 2nd story door to the stairs. It really adds to their versatility.

The steps/ladder will be fine, they seem to stick out more than your wall texture. Have you tried foamboard for your buildings? Keep the pics coming. It's always interesting to see someone else WIPs. 8)
