Black and white Mantic zombies
« on: May 09, 2012, 11:05:28 PM »
I know that I found a thread a while back that showed someone's Mantic zombies that had been done in black and white, but I can't find it any more.  Can anyone help me find the thread?  I have spent an hour in the search screens looking for it.

I remember they were mounted on old CD's.  Most likely sprayed white and dipped.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Damn, those look good for such a simple technique.

Thanks guys!  I had really convinced myself they were Mantic.  Great to see them again though.

Here's my take on them with my test model.

I'll show another pic when he has some buddies and a nice base.

Made some progress, here's the first few.  Just minwaxed 45 more and ordered 60 more yesterday.  Bring on the shambling hoard!

I've got to ask, why are the subjects B&W, but the bases in amazing technicolour?

Pick out the eyes fergal, red light blue or green would work nicely. What's the theme?

I like the abstract art theme going on...basically that the zombies are indeed a faceless/emotionless threat.  Almost the way one would see them, as a wandering mass...devoid of identity etc.  I think your version could use a bit more black/brown colour, as they are quite pale/vivid, and evoke more of ghostly image than I'd expected.  Beautiful stuff.  I have a bunch of Mantic zombies I'm eventually painting up - not even for a reason, just to have some.  Who doesn't occasionally need 28mm zombies anyway?

I quite like all things b&w, but when combined with a full-color background / flocked base, they look more like stone statues  ???

I just started another thread on the Post Apocalyptic board about the future of these zombies, http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=44961.0

I also answer why I'm going with b&w zombies on there.

Thanks for reading this one!
