oh, I'd be surprised if a 3rd faction made it into the actual retail box, but the video already talks about a 3rd faction down the pipe and the amount of money this KS is already bringing in will certainly speed that along. I'm hoping they start work on that 3rd faction instead of making more alt scuplts and make those models the bonuses for the future KS stretch goals that this project will inevitably hit. If this works out anything like the Zombiecide KS (and it's looking to do just that) then there's gonna be a crapload of extra stuff included for the backers that won't make it in the retail release, and I'm just hoping that those extras are a 3rd faction instead of just more figs for the 2 base factions. That said, I'd be absolutely content with just more figs and more alt scuplts.

In addition to the mention of a 3rd faction in the original video, Mike McVey is on the Dakkadakka thread (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/451585.page and has already mentioned an expansion. No details at all, he just mentioned that expansions are already being thought about and that there is the possibility of eventually turning it into a full skirmish game, not just a board game. Even if they don't, I LOVE all these hybrid games that have been becoming more and more prevelant last few years, the ones that are packaged like a board game but include minis and play like a minis game.

The question i have is scale on the figs. I didn't see it answered so if it was slap me silly and point it out please. :-)
Loved the AT-43 figs, but they were scaled too big to use with any current lines. Here's to hoping the Sedition figs are more "appropriate" to scale. :-)

Can't find a direct comparison but the figures have been around for awhile so I'm sure they're out there. Stole a couple of pics from Dwartist's blog, I'm sure he won't mind  :D They don't show the figs next to each other but they are next to the same vehicle so show the scale rather well.

So many projects..... so little time.......

I'm thinking about doing the $190.

That'd be 2 drone tanks + 42 troops + 2 resin whatchawhosits + 56 wretched blighted mutants a spare set of any important stuff that I might lose, and one Vanguard patch for each of the butt cheeks of my favorite pair of shorts.  And if the stretch goal hits 60,000 which it is close to then I'll get another 12 or 24 (I'm not sure which) soldiers.
And 2 of those prints too.

That ain't bad for $200. And it might even get better. Y'know, dice, posters, more figs, a measuring tape, some cheese in a can...who knows?

As a bonus, I can lend my spare rule book out to people I'm trying to get interested in the game, so they can roll their eyes and look on me with pity and try to get me to play Call of Duty MW3 with them so I can get re-socialized into a proper gentleman with dry socks and nice part in his hair.

EDIT:   They just made the$60,000 stretch goal. So the 12 extra troopers for the Biohazard and above is in effect. No new stretch goals just yet. I hope it's more figures and tiles and stuff, not t-shirts, plastic Vanguiard ID cards/dog tags, illustrated short story collections, stickers, or other ancillary nik-naks. Gimme more cool stuff I can play with! Yee haw!

I OTOH am not as enamoured with them. I'm not convinced they "play like a minis game" on the whole - but perhaps this one will.

Might be good enough value to get the box for the sheer number of troopers tho. Not sure what to do with the Strain minis however, and in case would rather prefer to buy the Vanguard the "old-fashioned" way - that is, as miniatures and not as a part of big set that contains loads of stuff I won't be using.

Here's one I took personally - no Vanguard figs there tho but one assumes they are to scale with Firebrands and one also likes to suppose the minis in the box will be the same scale as the ones already out:

You'll get 2 of any goals that get reached, so you'd get 24 extra soldiers.

Surely somebody is willing to stock it in UK so you won't personally be stung by the customs ;)

Well as Studio McVey will be stocking it, that's what i reckon would be the best bet.

Fine for buying it after it's published; possibly not fine for Kickstarter subscribers, if their copies are all sent out from CoolMiniOrNot.

It's all academic to me, as I'm skint, alas, but potential EU subscribers might like to ask whether their copies could be sent out by Studio McVey.  You'd still have to pay VAT, I suppose, but there wouldn't be the handling charge for customs duties.

This is what Mike posted over on Dakka Dakka re: UK postage:

Quote
Hey Guys

Sorry I haven't specifically answered any questions on UK shipping - I haven't been ignoring them, we have just been trying to figure out what we can do about it.

I know it's a little weird that UK shipping is more for a UK designed product. Here are the facts of the matter.

The game is being manufactured in the Far East, and shipped to the US for distribution. We are looking into shipping a portion of the production run straight to the UK (time to start looking for a warehouse space, I don't think our attic studio will take it!) - but to do that we need we need to gauge what interest from the UK is like. The only way is will make sense is is we are sending a reasonable portion of the run here - if it's only a few boxes, it just won't work.

It's a bit of a chicken and egg situation. People want cheap shipping before they order, and we need enough orders for it to make sense.

Believe me - I want to have this product in the UK, so I can sell it from my store once it releases!

I'm looking into actual shipping costs today - it's going to be a large and heavy box. It's 36cm x36cm x 8cm, and will weight quite a bit.

Please bear with me and I'll get you answers asap - we are trying to get this sorted out.

mike

I've emailed him,on this so when I hear back I'll post up more info.

Right then:

It would be helpful for Mike to know the number of UK pledges/pledgers at this stage so he can work out the viability of a UK shipping run.

So if you're a UK pledger could you PM me with your Kickstarter 'name' and I'll give it till the kickstarter runs out then let Mike know numbers for good old blighty.

Cheers

The Commander
