wow so dam happy I pulled my pledge before it ended.

It was to much for my liking... I started asking myself
Will they get it out on time? what delays would they get?
will the quality be excellent? or will it suffer due to the extra amount of minis being added?.

The Terrain set is the only thing I wish I had gotten as I could have so many uses for it now...
but will watch this and see how it all turns out..

LGW

THIS is exactly why I'm asking so many questions about Road Kill.....  When there is no completed game, everything is on faith and 'understanding' and that doesnt seem like good consumerism.  Lots of folks here have lamented that they should have asked more questions....

yup that's why those who do ask genuine comments like production times, possible delays, material used, or why wasn't the box set offered from day 1 etc etc...[R/K reference]

They get labelled as a Troll....

I have seen some trolls who do it to get off but there are those guys/girls who do ask the right questions.

I think from now on I will be one of those question guys but I'll say it nicely of course... Do I look like a Troll???

On a positive note: I received my shipping notice for the second batch of stuff today. Despite all of the negativity this project has received, I'm actually very happy with the models I already have, and I'm looking forward to the rest. I've played the first edition rules and actually enjoyed the game, but do really hope that version 3 (or whatever it is now) will be much better.

Just received my shipping notice as well.

It's also seriously putting me off mantic's dread zone as they've admitted to using the same plastic for their ks pledge figures,  but with better quality conttol......

Here's hoping

I think Deadzone will come out better.  Mantic has worked longer and put out more figures in restic than CMON/SMV has and I think they understand the limitations of the material better.  They aren't perfect, but their process and QC seem to be significantly beyond CMON/SMV.

On the other hand, whatever factory Mantic uses has the same tendency to rip the parts off of the frames instead of cutting them.  Dang it, I have several pairs of sprue nippers.  Give me an address and I'll drop my spares in the mail tomorrow!

In fairness they sent out a message a couple of weeks after the shipping notices were sent to apologise for that. They printed all the address labels etc for the boxes in preparation and the UPS system sent out automatic emails long before the boxes were ready.

This is true.

It was also a nice touch to send the updated stat cards to all the backers, and the painting DVD should be worth a watch.

The terrain set is still what made the second wave for me.

I know someone who's already got his second Batch - and has the following to say.

Quote
The last installment of my Sedition Wars Kickstarter showed up on my doorstep today. I will start by saying the terrain will work well with my Space Hulk. They did a great job with the terrain.

Well that is about all the nice I have to say. Disappointment or even scale fail are the words that come to mind next. I am not sure how McVey let this batch of sculpts leave. At some point he had to have his hands on these final sculpts in their final production form and just hung his head in silence as the tears came streaming from his eyes freely at the failure but did not know what else to do but let them go.

This latest batch is not the same scale as the rest of the game miniatures or in anyway the same detail or quality. I will post images as soon as I can bring myself to opening some of the bags of miniatures. At this point I can't even be bothered to do that through my disappointment.

The DVD is well meh. If they can't even bother to figure out how to white balance the imagery than I fear for the rest of the video. I was expecting so much more from the video and wanted to keep hope alive. But hope is dead after skimming through it.

Needless to say I will not be buying anymore McVey anything unless I see it in person and have read reviews.

Kinda Glad I missed it, and got my fingers crossed for DeadZone (which I pledged Heavily for)

I've heard other reports of the scale issues, and honestly I'm not that concerned. I'm interested in playing games, and have mixed 25 thru 35mm figures on the same board before. If the game is fun for everyone the scale difference is a minor quibble. As I also use my figures for multiple games, again, not a big issue. If the sculpt quality is poor however, that is a problem. I thought the first batch was good though, and remain hopeful. :)

I pledged in for Deadzone too, and I'm looking forward to that as well. So many toys and games, so little time!

As to the DVD, I've seen it and it was actually very good overall in my opinion. It's aimed at a beginning / intermediate to produce tabletop paint jobs. What your friend was actually expecting seems to be different than what it was. But to each their own I suppose.

Received my shipping notice today. So that's good.

Funny - I opted a minimal pledge for the Deadzone KS (early bird Recon) because of the SW hassle. Ended up being a good value IMO, so I'm looking forward to it.

I've seen a lot of "it's total crap" comments by now but personally I only have very small issues so far with the 2nd wave. That said, I've basically just perused the minis to make sure I have all the parts so things like lack of detail on faces (which mostly seems to bother the extras anyhow) or size issues haven't yet registered. Will have to try and take some comparison photos of my own on Sunday.

Thanks. I'm interested in those pics. And in receiving my shipment.

It's a shame that an initially intriguing project has turned so 'Meh'. Nothing ruins a great idea faster than a lousy implementation.

Meanwhile, here's a few shots of someone else's w2 stuff -- some featuring the "Calamity Crew" and other extras which won't be appearing in mine:

Got mine, in a word..... crap.

The boxed scenery set is better than the plastic miniatures,  but even the box looks like a cheap knock off dvd printed sleeve u used to see at the local boot sale.

I sent an email to Mike a while back raising my concerns,  only to get a very negative response in return.  The response included him saying:

The same manufacturer that made the SW miniatures is making miniatures for most of the smaller companies that are doing plastics right now - and the quality of our miniatures is just as good, better I believe.

I hate to say, i completely disagree.

Looking at a large number of the bonus minis,  they are poorly detailed, soft and undersized. Made even more apparent by the inclusion of the limited Kara resin. Yes I think we all appreciated that this was not going to be a box of resin minis but come on, some please admit that they got this bit so wrong.

I'm sorry to hear that :(

It is a shame when something that offers so much, gives so little. Are the actual game miniatures OK? From what I have seen elsewhere, the troops are OK but the special additions are the ones that are crap... is that the case or is it all bad?

I hope you get some sort of satisfaction from CMON... if not Karma will sort things out...
