It's that time of year again, GW summer of aircraft.

It's that time of year again, Granny Weatherwax is having their annual summer theme campaign expansion update whatever. This time they are going for aircraft. The ork mig thing is pretty nice, the necron is ok, but the space marine are flying some sort of fisherprice knock of thing.

I have one of the Space Marine fliers on advance order. I am determined to make it look presentable (I have a bunch of modifications planned). As it is, Fisher-Price pretty much sums it up  lol .

The others are pretty good as they are.

I like the Ork plane kit.  Its tempting. The marine flyer is comical.

It's weird, I kind of like the Space Marine thing and I don't like Marines or their flying brick vehicles. I'd make some changes to it such as extending the fusilage length, giving it proper wings with the engines in vtol style on the ends, definately change the stupidly oversized gun mount underneath the nose, but it has a certain something.

I dislike it and like it at the same time... I can definately see the fisherprice statement though.
So many projects..... so little time.......

I actually really like the Necron flying thingie; although I'm not sure if its because its reminiscent of the Cylon raiders from BSG. Still I imagine that it could be used for many a ufo if that is your bag.

Cheers

The Necron ship is awesome, the Ork one is great for Ork lovers (I'm not one of them, lol) but the Space Marine is just a joke. I guess the guy/guys who designed it bet with someone they could make a vehicle that was even worse than the StormRaven  :D

All I want to do with that SM flyer is chop off the tail, add some gun arms, legs and missile pods and make it into a Madcat style mech.

This will be something i would love to see.

And when i saw the pic of the SM flyer this is what jumped out to me as a needed immediate change first and foremost. :-)

I am liking the way you think. Don't forget to take pics of the WIP as well as the finished mode. :-)

Unlikely to happen, I was considering it but then I looked at the sprue pics. Changing the tength of the fuselage would require chopping the tail off and building an entirely new body which is more work than the price tag deserves. I'd be better off starting from a different point such as the 1/48th Commanche I have in a box upstairs :)

I'd rather prefer Forgeworld's Storm Eagle

If GW is going broke this is the sort of reason why.

Share price reasonable, sales company showing growth, profits good. Not sure where you can get the idea of them going broke. I don't agree with it, but they do pretty well.

I like it, possibilties of using it with my Halo stuff definately with a little turn down of the giant weapons.

Guns as big as the engines? Interesting design choice.
