With my carefully cultivated self-discipline cast to the wind, I realise that I am now a wargaming butterfly......

I have started another project that will run concurrent with my late medieval 'big build'.
I just couldn't resist the LAM "Heroes" pack any longer and and so have dived in and bought them plus the "Old Men" and a few others from Hasslefree, most of which will need some degree of conversion as this will be a winterised game. (I also plan to sculpt a few minis of my own and it just so happens Hasslefree has a comp on.....

)
Why winter? I can't deny that the Crooked Dice 'mountaintop' board unveiled on here and displayed at Salute is a motivator!
The project will feature individuals and gangs fighting the elements and each other to survive. The rules and the terrain will be inspired by my Aliens project, but no Xenomorphs, Terminators, etc. For some Aliens flavour see
here and
here.... images and report courtesy of Captain Blood.
This game will follow a road with buildings to each side, the rear of the buildings open for player access. Beneath the buildings will be basements and sewers, also open for player access. The terrain will be built onto 3 plinths, each 60cm by 60cm, to give a road 1.8m long. As there will be 3 plinths they can be rotated on two sides, giving 18 different combinations of the three together. Buildings will include offices, flats/houses and shops with terrain features including a railway line and river.
Two of the plinths, showing the long cavities for the underground sections that will be beneath the buildings:

For the buildings I will be trying a new (to me) technique of which more in due course. As for electrics, I expect I'll light the tunnels with LEDs but not sure what to do on the surface .... maybe some flickering fires? Street lights would have looked great except it's PostApoc!
More soon.....
