Foes of Bruegelburg?
« on: 04 July 2012, 12:12:54 AM »
Will there be a suitable faction to oppose all these wonderful Bruegelburg soldiery?

Perhaps something more Italian City-state?

For the time being I would classify the Militia of Bruegelburg as a “foe“ of the Landsknecht mercenaries. More fractions? Yes, I hope so, but nothing short-term.

I think a good place to start for this in lieu of the Prof working on opposition as in Mordheim are White Knights Rennaisance dwarves which fit with the old GW/Marauder ones and also his Orcs and goblins again supported perhaps by the Foundry Ogres

Yes, I have a large collection of the Foundry Great Orcs. I was thinking a human faction. I'm not really up on the "historical" period so I wasn't really sure what another human faction would look like. Rival Landsknechts is always a possibility, of course. About the only thing I could picture were Italians with their pavise shields...

Our Landsknechts also will have pavises.

I'm actually going to recruit some Landsknechte into my evil WHFB 3rd edition army. They will be alongside the likes of Black Orcs, Ogres and Hobgoblins...

They will be fighting against some classic citadel dwarves, and naturally the LAM dwarves.

So, anything goes around here, really :)

Turks/Ottomans would be a wonderful option, plenty of scope there. Could also consider Wallachian, Georgian or early Russian types or going the other way Polish.
Any of those have a distinct look/asthetic that would set them apart.

Fantasy Ottomans done in the LAM style would be awesome.

For Humans you could always go with some of the TAG Italian Wars range, they may be a bit slight though

Agree with sir BH-R!
Landsknechte historical opponents were the Italian (obviously not only them). It would be cool to see Arlequin's suggestion (here) realized. I'd really like to see a Giovanni dalle Bande Nere model. Would you be interested in some concept eventually? :D

YESssssss!!!!

Can you imagine how large the turban would be on the Grand Turk after having been Ratnik'd!

(I do have the sculptor correct - yes?)

(I've actually been thinking of getting some fantasy Harads/Turks done. They would be loosely reminiscent of the old Der Kriegspieler line, but also channelling Calorman (Narnia) and Ottoman influences.)

About those Dwarves. I took a look the other day but I got the impression that many were not available any more - that is, they seemed to be "limited run" things. Is that the case?
