Well, Jim, this is pretty much what I’m having in mind as one-day-possibility :)

I was just trying to illustrate that the potential for action and adventure existed without going too far from Bruegelburg and using what already exists within the range (mostly). If you really want to release more figures to represent 'the enemy', then that will probably be okay with your customers.

Including Bruegel style monsters would set this range apart from pretty much everything else on the market for sure.

In lieu of other opponents for Bruegelberg, there's its alter-ego 'Boschstadt' (think Springfield and Shelbyville in the Simpsons). While one is a 'free town', the other might be amongst the holdings of a noble, who jealous of the loss of potential trade to his town by the proximity of the other, might be constantly plotting and acting against them. The forces involved would be pretty much identical, Militia and Landsknechts for the most part, with some rural and urban knights (the range needs these!) thrown into the mix... and cannon of course.

 ;)

This would be a very cool idea!

I can't claim any originality really, it was pretty much what went on in Germany and the Low Countries for much of the medieval era. People like the Duke of Gueldres, Wilhelm von der Marck and Pier Gerlofs, to name but a few, were always up to some mischief or other. Petty rivalries and skirmishes were a constant feature of life at this time, but often don't make the history books. It makes sense that somewhere like Bruegelburg would not have to look very far for enemies.

I saw a french language film once which featured two rival villages. They meant at the half-way point and played a game sort of like soccer or rugby with pretty much all the men from each village on each side. It was more like a confused melee and didn't seem to have any rules. I ddidn't see the whole movie so I don't know what it was all about orwven the name of the film. It's along the lines of what you are talking about though: inter-village rivalries.

I also vote for the Turks.  So many of the outfits are already so extreme (e.g. the Delis), that they would make fantastic Ratnik subjects.

Some of those monsters would really make the range stand out. Something totally otherwordly and fascinating about them.

Back in the 1980's Minifigs used to make an extensive range called Valley of The Four Winds based on the works of Hieronymous Bosch. I had a few of them and rather good they were too (for Minifigs). I expect you can still get them on eBay from time to time...

Obviously a LAM version would be even better ;)

But it has been done before :)

I like the idea of the second rival city. If people want Turks, then maybe as mercs?

If there were Turks as well that would open the way for the "Borderers" - Croats, an similar with a mix of influences. The Barbary Pirates had Muslim and Christian renegades in their midst.

I'd also like a Ratnik'd "Order of the Knights of St. John" if I haven't mentioned that before!

I think the Turks would be pretty cool
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.
