Raising the Dead
« on: 04 July 2012, 06:03:25 PM »
Hi,

I'm new to the forum. Well strictly speaking I've been lurking in the shadows, admiring others work on here for ages. Now I think about it, I've probably lurked here for several years. Hmm, sounds a bit creepy when put like that. Best just stick to 'hey I'm new here'  :D

Anyway, I'm currently building an Undead army, using mainly Mantic Miniatures Undead range, and thought that this would be a good time to stop lurking, and start interacting with you fine people. I'm building the army so that it is usable in several systems, though I'll mainly be playing Kings of War and Warhammer 3rd edition with it.

I've got the first couple of unist done, a horde of 40 Skeleton Warriors with spears, and a Balefire Catapult.

Picture below shows the first three bases of the skeleton horde

Picture below shows the Balefire Catapult - using it as a Screaming Skull Catapult in 3rd edition Warhammer

Picture below shows the skeleton horde (still needs a banner making for it).

I'll try and keep this thread updated with my progress.

Welcome to the forum. I can see you will be fun to have around. Your army looks splendid. Great, clean style of painting without looking to playful.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but these look like multibases. Do you have individual models to take away for warhammer games? Or do you use some other markers to show how many skellies are left?

:-* Love them, really impressive. It's amazing how the yellow looks dirty yet bright at the same time.

Very good use of colours- The green and mustard was inspired- muted and grubby, while neatly pianted and in theme. Well done!

Welcome out of the shadows! Lovely painting, by the way. I've had a go at these as well but that lovely yellow on the shields knocks mine into a cocked hat.

Thank you for the welcome and compliments  :)

You're not wrong. They are on 40mm square multibases. I haven't decided what to do for Warhammer 3rd edition yet. I'll have to make some casualty markers for Kings of War, so I might go that route.
