Pulp Crashed Plane - WIP
« on: July 07, 2012, 01:36:40 PM »
I'm working on a .45 Adventure where 4 teams are looking for a plane containing stolen gold artifacts and so I knocked up this ...

The model is an AMT 1/48 plastic kit called “Winnie Mae”, modified by cutting the door out, collapsing the undercarriage and adding a few bespoke transfers.

The next step is to weather the model, mybe put a few jungle creepers over it.

Looks good so far  :)

If you're going to put creepers on it then I'd suggest quite a heavy weathering.

Funny!

I was contemplating the exact same thing.. (in white with red stripes though).

I'm going to add a tree with a parachute hanging from it though.

Oh and it looks brilliant.

Very cool.
Did you buy two planes,
as to have a uncrashed plane?

No, for a few reasons. Firstly, I didn't think of it (good idea though  :) ). Secondly, there are not that many aeroplane kits out there that you can use for this sort of model. Most kits are military and when you find an interesting kit it's usually not in 1/48 scale. Consequently, this is quite an old kit which I found on ebay.

I've started a heavy weathering program by giving it a coating of Devlin Mud ... looking better now.

Gorgeous work. If you want a recent crash, then leave it as it as (although I would add some oil streaks on the fuselage, piston engines constantly through oil over the side). If you want something to discover, then go with a heavy green wash with flecks of flocking in it (and some white glue) and then the creepers.

Nice!

I really like it. Perhaps some weathering would make it look even better.

I hope you don't mind if I steal this idea?

Cheers
Andy
