Storage + transporting miniatures
« on: July 20, 2012, 04:00:21 PM »
Apologies if this is the wrong section but it seemed most appropriate I could find  :o

I was wondering how you good people stored your miniatures and if you had any good tips (preferably cheap ones!).

Also how to do you transport them about, ive based my first figures on 2ps and I understand the newer ones are magentic, but as it is how do you guys like to carry yours around?

Any help much appreciated!

The fish.

Depending on where you are, you can use pistol cases.

Three layers of foam including a layer of pluck foam.  Around hunting season Walmart has them for under $10.00.

I know. Same here. It's another sucky consequence of not letting people buy .500 S&W Magnums on a whim.

Derailing this topic slightly. Has anyone other than myself ever had the foam inserts from KR dis-colour (go somewhat yellow)?

Some of the very early ones (about five years old) but I believe that's not an issue now.

Thinking about it that is about right for mine (5 years old). To be honest they have no other problem and still work fine.

Ditto. Great products. I have two of the 3 box carry bags too. Highly recommended.

I got 2 pistol cases from Amazon.com for about $42 with shipping. They're roughly the same size as the GW case, although slightly larger. I'm in the US so I don't know if shipping overseas would make it a viable option or not, just figured I'd put the info out there.

There was a chat along these lines on wd3 recently.  Depends where you are, but I was able to build 12"x12"x2" cardboard boxes with matched eggcrate foam inserts for less than 5 USD per unit.

If you want to make something very much like KRs product and are willing to put the pieces together, it's the best answer IMO.
