Thank you, everyone, for the compliments and your votes. I totalled up the votes here and at the other poll I set up at Steve Dean's forum, and she has risen again!

http://bp2.blogger.com/_OegChr5Zg_s/R63EZm6ZXBI/AAAAAAAAAiI/gjSoSHSE968/s1600-h/Mary+Ellen+Carter+and+new+gun.jpg

The final vote count was SS Reckless, 25; Mary Ellen Carter, 39; and Fleuve Perdu, 22.

The armament is a 3-inch gun I scratchbuilt. But Mark Copplestone (Copplestone Castings) is also sending me a host of armaments to put on my ship- she will be bristling, and she'll have no problems with dinosaurs or natives getting too close :)

Excuse me if this is a stupid question, but, who is Mary Ellen Carter?  :?:  Beautiful job, by the way!
Cheers,
Mike

Not a stupid question; I didn't know who she was until just a week or so ago. She is the name of a ship in a song of the same name. It's a song about men trying to salvage their sunken ship- It's also a metaphoric song about not letting things get you down, because you will "rise again."

Here are the lyrics:

Thanks to Lead Adventure member Will Bailie for the idea in the first place :)

As of Wikipedia the song is credited with saving at least one life:

Well, if you make a smaller, less attractive ship you could name it the "Ethel Merman."
Sailors have more fun!

Thank your to Mark Copplestone for providing me with this excellent array of armament for my ship. From fore to aft, I have a gardner (or is that nordfelt?) gun, a couple maxims, a twin-maxim anti-aircraft gun and a three-pounder gun.
The guns all are mounted on bases but not directly attached to the ship, so that I can move the guns around (or take them off completely for civilian expeditions.)
The guns still need ammunition boxes.
