This is indeed great news that another company is looking at this Sideshow. Also they mentioned a Palestine range too in the future.

I hope Olaf(Mainly 28s) can do a review including a comparison with current figures available.

While this can only be a good thing and you won't catch me complaining about a new Great War range, one drawback from a personal point of view is that these so far seem to be duplicates of stuff already available from other firms.

Right now I've got all the Turkish regulars I need, and Aussies aren't really what I'm into, so unless they're planning to bring out a few of the less represented troop types I can't see myself buying anything from this range in the foreseeable future.

Brigade Games has me covered as far as Turks go. I wonder if the two lines will mix well.

Like Plynkes I'm hoping they do some different stuff, maybe some camel trains or assualt specialists, something different. How about a figure that's a spot on Kemal? Does Brigade have one? I'm still waiting for the second command pack, maybe he's in there.

Here's what I would like to see in an "Eastern Theatres" line:

(Note to manufacturers, I realise there is no chance of these getting made, and I'm not suggesting anyone actually pour money down the drain on account of these dreams, as it's probably only me that wants them. So don't think I'm having a go, it's just what I would like to have, in a perfect world )

Ottoman troops in arab headgear
1915 French in transitional uniforms (Dardanelles)
Tropical Brits in tin hats
Brits in standard early war uniform that somehow look "hot" (i.e. shirt sleeves, neckflaps on their caps, etc. for the Dardanelles)
Highlanders in tropical gear
Highlanders in slouch hats (Salonika)
French Chasseurs d'Afrique in Adrian helmets
Turkish sharpshooters/snipers (specifically female ones, I realise that they probably wouldn't look that different to ordinary riflemen, but there aren't any that are really in a sniper pose at the minute - kneeling and taking aim would be nice)
Germans in the high-style sun helmets (as opposed to the more Wolseley-like ones that Brigade do. Those are fine and I have some, but I'm greedy enough to want the other kind too.)


That'll do for now, as this is all a pipe-dream anyhow.

I'm with Poly - I might not want everything on his list, but definitely interested in Ottoman infantry in keffiyah (or however it is spelled).

Also want to see more cavalry - Ottoman cavalry, Chasseurs d'Afrique and Imperial Camel Corps (do those count as cavalry?  doesn't matter - I wants them!)

And Western front could use more cavalry.  I might be the only person looking for 1914 French cuirasseurs.  I could also use some 1918 British cavalry.

It looks like we are on the same page regarding Ottomans and I fancy doing some arab types. The snipers are already on my brief.

As for the Allies we are sticking with ANZAC troops to start with but they are by no means fresh off the boat. For both the Turks and ANZACs we are going for a very lived in look. These chap are not in tropical undress type uniforms they are barely in unifirms at all! The ANZACs will be living up to their nickname of the naked army (although not completely) and the Ottomans are all based on photos from the period where they hardly look like they have a complete set of kit between them.

No plans for Frenchies just yet although I quite fancy doing them, that and some Brits although we haven't discussed Highlanders.

I'd like to see a dismounted Australian Light Horse firing line.  I'm pretty disappointed that Brigade Games decided to do theirs charging (on foot) rather than in firing poses.
