Hi Eladio,

That vehicle would be perfect. I know the Afrikakorps used them so it wouldn't be out of place with my collection.

Thankyou for your thoughts.

God Bless
Best wishes,
Helen

Oh yes, the Land-Wasserschlepper (Amphibious Tractor) would be great. It was originally conceived for Operation Seelöwe, the proposed invasion of the British Isles, but who says you couldn´t issue it to expeditions bound for the four corners of the Earth?

Very nice collection. Congratulations.
I am currently building my own fleet [have currently 2 vessels, planning 3 more] but the main problem I find is to find suitable crew: mainly deckhands, officers, and bridge crew.
So far I have pressed some OG [boxer rebellion] sailors, Renegade, Brigade games even London Warroom officers. But I need more;
A note my navy will be German.

Any suggestions for suitable figures!

Hi,

Thankyou for your kind words. Artizan has just released some U-Boat crews figures that would be suitable and I'm speculating that Brigade Games will be producing more figures to follow up on the upcoming U-Boat. Considering you need a gun crew for the 8.8 cm Deck Gun and the 2cm AA plus conning tower crew. I'm hoping that Mr Richard Ansell will be the designer of the crews as he has designed some beautiful crews todate.

Cheers.

Helen, I can't believe I missed this thread! Your fleet and crews are fantastic. It would be great to pitch my Brit. Navy boys and merchant crews against them.

Also, I am trying to remeber where I saw this fantastic 1/35 diorama of the Land Wasser schlepper. It was one of these bizarr creations with so much detail you went cross eyd lookingf at it.

Dear Helen,
Thanks for suggestions.

One question more: The main gun in first photo: who makes it?

And a suggestion: Maybe the hats/heads of the german sailors by Brigade game vould be useful, for some few conversions.

Looks good. Being older than dirt however, the photos of the crew on the deck with grass and dirt as the base cover instantly brought to mind a Willie and Joe cartoon done by Bill Mauldin in WWII.

Willie is standing next to a sailor manning a 40mm AA gun. He says to the sailor. "You guys ought to carry a little dirt to dig holes in".  Apparently your sailors have taken up the suggestion and will be able to "dig in" if attacked.

Not intended as a criticism, just an observation. I've never found an adequate way to base figs that will be wandering the decks of a ship, the streets of New York, and the jungles of Indonesia, all in the same adventure.

Hi Peder, Thankyou for your kind words.

There are more crew to follow.

I'd be interested in knowing who makes that model. I'd even provide a commission to have it built to 1/56th scale.

God Bless

I've come to this thread late, but had to say this is excellent work Helen.

I can't help with a source of heads with German sailor caps, but these could be of use from Westwind:

For helicopters, this kit of the Flettner Fl 265V-1 looks very pulpy and would fit in perfectly with your set-up:

Where did you find the helicopter?
