Meine Hochseeflotte-Der Anfang , the start
« on: December 14, 2008, 01:57:04 AM »
Hallo all,

Just now I obtained some photos of my first "Hochseeflotte" vessel.
It is scratchbuilt, with few ,yet, fittings from various manufacturers.

Crew figures and guns from Old Glory!

scratchbuilt, photo and painting by George "Bellifortis" Pistof. design and research by me.

However I would like to thank Plynkes for inspiration!

the bridge:

the same can be figured as a tramp steamer:

She has no name yet, I am thinking something like:

Kurfuerstin Kunigunde von Sachsen, or
Markgraeffinn Dorothea von Brandenburg
[sorry no umlauts in my english keyboard]

Please free to comment and make any suggestions!

 :-* :-*

She's a real beauty.

I like her a whole lot, and all the detail work that you did to make her look very realistic.  One darn good scratch built model, I gotta tell ya.

Well done!

She's nice, but that's not really the point: what I appreciate most is the fact that you have succeeded in shrinking the length (for tabletop use), at the same time making sure figures can be placed nearly all over the ship AND maintaining a convincing look.

Congrats, I (nearly) feel sorry to have to pierce her hull with torpedos, but - on the other hand - I'm sure she will sink in style!  lol

Superb! Excellent model, well-condensed. Makes a nice Kanonenboot to go with your Politik.

One thing, though, itīs "Der Anfang", not "Die Anfang".

Nice boat! Go for "Sabine von Leutheusser-Schnarrenberg" as a name  ;)

Really really nice model - one comment though - too clean.

Needs some rust streaks, or a few scratches down the hull, to give it a bit more depth/character, maybe a few bits of stowage, tarp, ropes hanging over the side (so as to not cut down on the space for figures).

Very promising though.
 :)

Oh, she's a beaut. A great sister ship for the Elke (and her alter-ego the Denture).

In fact, with all those lovely little bits of detail, she's nicer than mine, you rotter! Top job. :)

Hey howdy there.

I was curious, is it modeled after a specific "Hochseeflotte" ship or just an abstract scratchbuilt ship? :-)

Nice one, compatriots! And you built that with all the distracting fires in town, which makes it an even more remarkable piece of work.  :D I must admit that I am positively impressed by the Old Glorys.

Kurfuerstin Kunigunde von Sachsen would be my favourite name.
