Wooden Wars Floortop game Kickstarter
« on: August 21, 2012, 04:40:55 PM »
My friend Thomas Foss has started this Napoleonic floor top game. Having played it myself I can say it is fun on the most primal level for a wargamer.

"Harkening back to the days of H.G. Wells, my Wooden Wars Wooden Soldier project is a visual and visceral action battle game, where tactics, good hand-eye coordination and a bit of luck are key! Players command armies of sturdy wooden soldiers against each other using the floor as the battlefield.

Victory is achieved by knocking over all the opposing sides’ forces by firing upon them, with melee action, or by capturing a key objective like the enemy’s flag or a star fort made of blocks."

Thomas kindly sent two samples to my five-year-old aide de camp. He promptly painted one up in a uniform of his own design and allowed me to try my hand on the second. We'll definitely be backing him so we can enjoy a nice Waterloo-ish game on his birthday (18 June), as well as other times throughout the year.

Great idea and wonderful looking figures, I am sure painted as "flats" they will look stunning. Unfortunately way too expensive for me :'(

This kickstarter was fully funded in 3 days.  Now it's on to it's 1st set of stretch goals: a special baton that doubles as a measuring stick & the 1st of the next line of wooden soldiers, Queen Victoria's Robot Wars.

I know VSF may not have a big audience in this section of LAF, but with the already funded Napoleonic wood soliders, you can make your own 95th Robotic Rifles by combining the 2 sets (which may still not have much of an audience in this section  :D
Remember, remember, the Dalek December
With Paris in ruins and London in ember
In times of the future when fears are abating
Don’t try to forget them, the Daleks are waiting
Quietly planning and scheming and hating…
