« on: August 29, 2012, 05:19:12 PM »
Hadn't noticed that Flames of War was releasing a new starter set untill I received my Wayland Games Newsletter! here's some more information.

"Product Information: World War II is the most destructive conflict in living memory. The brave men of the Allies, fighting the World conquering German forces and their Italian and Japanese partners. This war was started when the German Army led by Adolf Hitler, invaded Poland in 1939 until the surrender of the Japanese in 1945. Millions of brave soldiers gave their lives to ensure a free world.

Flames of War allows some of the most famous battles to be re-created on your tabletop. From the D-Day landings and the recapture of Normandy, and Africa, to the Soviets in the north. Flames of War allows for a wide variety of unit types, fielding Tank Platoons and Infantry squads. This games scales from the smallest of skirmishes, to the greatest confrontations see for the past 60 plus years.

Open Fire is the perfect starter set to get into the world of 15mm WWII battles. Players can choose from historically accurate army lists, or create their own rag tag Band of Brothers for either the US or the Germans.

This boxed set contains the following:

- 52 Page Full Colour Quick Start Guide.

- 296 Full Colour Complete Rulebook.

- More than 118 Finely Detailed Miniatures.

- V1 Flying Bomb Terrain Feature.

- Cardboard Terrain.

- Objective Markers.

The miniatures in this boxed set, are supplied unpainted and require assembly."

Cheers!

Flames of War seem to come out with new releases at a furious pace!
But this new development is a bit of a surprise.
Or not, I can well imagine Flames of War have been feeling the pressure from the Plastic Soldier Company and their marvelous plastic kits.

Hi, I guess they saw they weren't competitive with their metal infantry and resin vehicles but that's good for them and us as we now have a superb and affordable starter set for us and youngsters to get in the hobby or just to start yet another period or different scale!  ;D

From what I have heard from my fellow gamers, the Flames of War plastics are of a quality comparable to the Plastic Soldier Company's kits. We shall see how these look, as I'm looking at buying this to get my Uncle into the game.

I like what I see so far, but most of the included minis I already have, the one piece that I am REALLY interested in is the V1!!!
cheers and keep on gaming, Agis - http://www.adpublishing.de

The US Paratroopers are being previewed.

They look much better than the current sculpts.

They look great and I especially love their new base design as it is much easier to blend in the bases without having to use lots of filler or greenstuff.

I've only recently been getting into flames of war and these new models look fan-bloody-tastic. I might have to get me this starter kit.

What a temptation.  I wonder how long it will take them to release the plastic infantry alone?
I am not a quack!  I'm a mad scientist.  There IS a difference!

Right request time!
Anyone buying this set who doesn't want their V1 and ramp PM me!
In face three could be needed to make a ramp of the correct length( for a diorama not gaming!)
Another V1 will be fixed under a He111  ;)
