Sergeant York's Teleport Homer (That F*cking Dinosaur)
« on: 05 September 2012, 04:57:39 PM »
After playing a load of Man O War with my mate I've got him interested in playing some 40K. I asked him to have a look through the plot generator pages and this scenario leapt out at him.

I'm stupidly excited about the whole thing and I'm using it as a spur to get me motivated to work on my lead pile- I've made force lists for the game and apart from one miniature that's partially painted everything else is still virgin metal/plastic. I set myself the condition that it has to be all stuff I already own partially due to being a bit skint, but I did hotfoot it to the local car booter after work today to pick up a tyrannosaur!

I'll also be knocking together some jungle terrain for this, and I'm going to post the whole process on here, followed by a battle report.

There'll be more WIP shots of the miniatures and scenery as time goes on, but for now here's the hungry bastard that's ruined everything.

EDIT- fixed the pictures

Ahh, I had to use an alternative hosting site because Photobucket was being rubbish. I'll amend the first post now that PB is back online!

Ah, the scenario generator from Rogue Trader, now that is really well worth a read once in a while.
I've considered going throughthe Abdul Goldberg scenarios once in a while too. So I'll be looking forwards to seeing what comes of this.

The Goldberg scenarios always make me smile. So very space opera!

Abdul Goldberg, Myron Jubelgun and Inquisitor Toulon Hess were my three favorite set pieces in that Scenario generator. I had the same giddy rush when I figured out what this thread was about. Take photos when you run it!

that's pretty cool, is the generator online by chance?

The Rogue Trader rulebook's online, and the generator starts on page 240. Enjoy  :)

My group uses the plot generator for our Tales from the Maelstrom blog battle reports, its a gold mine of retro space opera fun. Rick recently let me in on a few of the in jokes seeded in amongst it too, many of them relating to the especially odd characters who worked in the Citadel factory in the mid '80s.

You can of course use these plots for any edition of 40k or any sci-fi skirmish game, and doing so should add to any game.

I've always loved the one that's blatantly a mission to capture The Doctor ;).

Andy- I look at the Tales from the Maelstrom blog all the time, you have some amazing battle reports!

Anyway, the cheapo dino has gone under the primer now along with 4A Miniatures' "Hale and Pace" and the beginnings of some jungle terrain, three plain CDs which will eventually be covered in lichen/fish tank greenery and one that's going to be a rocky clearing.
