Zombicide - *Update* Josh & Doug
« on: September 09, 2012, 08:25:53 PM »
Received my copy last Friday and couldn't wait to dig into some survivors. The miniatures paint up really nicely. They haven't got a lot of annoying detail, so 1-2 hours per model and they were done!
I mounted them on clear acryllic bases. Tried PVA glue at first, but they didn't stick very well. With minimum effort I could pry them loose. And since my friends and family will be handling them (probably a bit rough ;)), I went for superglue. Unfortunately there was some frosting, but oh well.

I'm happy to see these as I was quite underwhelmed when I opened my copy of the game. I tought the figs looked soft and lacked the detail of the greens that had been shown earlier.

I've read a few neg reviews on the miniature quality, but I think a closer look will be surprising.  I'm starting on the zombies and I found that the second pose from the left in the packing, the walker in the skirt and blouse.  If you look at her bum, her skirt is ripped and she's sporting a g-string!  HELLO!

So far I'm very happy with the sculpts, and I agree, the detail is there but not overdone so that the paint job is not forever.  I broke them down by pose, so that's 8 rounds of 12 zombies each.  Enough to paint them on a strip 6 at a time, but not so many (Zombies!) that you never want to see another zombie again after the 300'th 'Mr Same' Zombie!.

I'll start posting pics as I make some more headway.

nice miniatures but on the downside mine have a lot of flash, and with the miniatures being a bi soft it is hard to remove the flash. A well it is a nice game

Painted the next two! Josh the street thug and Doug the salaryman.

Josh the street thug

Josh is a street thug, so dark and natural colors would fit him well. But I wanted him to be flashy and pop really well on the board. So I went for a yellow hoodie with a marihuana logo. To fit in with the logo, I painted the beads in reggae colors. Some old jeans and allstars and done!

Doug the salaryman

Clearly based on Michael Douglas from 'Falling Down' and one of my favorites from the basic box. Love the idea of a geeky office clerk with 2 UZI's and 2 Beretta's going to town on the zombies. Painting was simple and straight forward. To give him some color I painted his hair carroty, the tie red and the glasses green.

5 down...4 to go. Next up are John Macclane (Die Hard) and Ned the conspiracy freak.
