Yup, I got distracted again after seeing and buying this chap on ebay

Who some of you may recognise as one of the Ferocious Ogre variants that was part of the 54mm range of plastic Fighting Fantasy miniatures produced many moons ago in the hallowed 80's.
Some of you (including me) may know him better from this pic taken from the Warhammer Fantasy Battle 3rd ed. rule book -

... which is how I intend on painting him up and possibly recreating the titanic battle surging around his feet, having been inspired by the exploits of the
Eternal PrivateTo add even more tension, excitement and nailbiting, edge of the seat-ness to the whole affair, I have been challenged by fellow LAFer Phreedh to a race, as he paints his own ogre/giant variant.
And yet there's more - Erny has also taken up the challenge in what is now a frenetic three way contest for interwebz glory!
I've stocked up on orange paint, found my biggest brush and am ready to do battle

Here's my progress so far - clean up and sculpting (if my rudimentary efforts can be thus described) of new toes and bits I sliced a bit too much off of whilst removing the mahoosive mold line that ran right round the mini, which is made of that slightly bendy plastic that doesn't file down well at all.
Thanks to Erny for the great tip of heating a pin to melt away the mold line - one I'll have to remember if presented with the same problem in the future.
New hair extensions to blend in the join at the neck

New toes - the old ones were very low on detail. Mine aren't particularly brilliant but I'm quite happy with my first attempt at fashioning something other than sandbags out of putty!

I'd like to add some more definition to the hands and stop up the weapon slot in his lower hand - then it'll undercoat and base coat time...
