The slaughter on Mars Continues... Pic heavy!
« on: 23 September 2012, 11:31:14 AM »
New Victoria, Mars. 23rd September 1889. The offices of the Illustrated London News Overseas Reporting Team.

Dear Reader,

Yesterday saw the forces of her Majesty Queen Victoria,(Gaud Bless 'Er) Empress of India, Venus, Atlantis and Mars, engaged in action against the sky dwelling Martians. This is the first time the various sky dwelling clans have been seen to join forces. I can report our losses were high, but on both occassions we successfully defeated the ruthless enemy.

The first action was a dawn raid by the Martians on the mining encampment at Kaa-Nas-Ooktaa. This is the second  pre dawn attack that has occured in recent weeks. We are beginning to understand the tactics these devils are employing.

The Mining installation and camp at Kaas-Naas-Ooktaa

The Martians surprise and overwhelm members of the Illustrated London News Overseas reporting team as they photograph the sun rise.

The Martians descend from their air borne skiffs right into the heart of the encampment and move silently through the tent lines

The Japanese aerial defence platform fails to alert the camp of the attack

More Martians descend into the camp

Naval troops emerge from their tents when the alarm is finally raised

Too late, the Martians are already slaughtering civilians and quickly move to silence the Bhurpa Rifles who are on picket duty.

The Nordenfeld Machine gun crew make it to their gun, but are cut down before they can bring it to bear on the enemy.

Miss Fanny Fitznizentite accompanied by Major Allan Farquar-Farquarson VC, her brother Richard "Dick" Fitznizentite and an unknown Janpanese officer hurry back to the camp following a dawn stroll

The gallant defenders eventually start to pour disciplined volley fire on the devils.

Lord Belborough hurries from his tent along with his trusty servant Satinder Bath

Civilian drivers are caught in the scramble from their tents unable to make it to their vehicles

Defending the camp

A Khosindan crew make it to their walker and start to fire shells into the Martian forces. This is the turning point in the battle as the British start to take the upper hand. The Martians are unable to deal with the combined effects of both rifle and cannon fire.

The breakfast club make it back to the safety of their camp to await aerial evacuation

Part two soon. :)

This is my type of game - fruity names and all!!  :-*  :-*  :-*

Serves those blasted paparazzi right!  >:(

Great board, minis and game. Really like the Martians moving through the camp before anyone is alerted. Love these sorts of scenarios.
