Vampires
« on: October 06, 2012, 01:09:45 AM »
The Nosferotu in red is a Citadel miniature purchased in the 90s. The photo washed out the red, its more nuanced in person. The tall Vampire with the sword is from West Wind's Antagonist line. The bomb throwing undead are from West Winds Romanov Holiday Anarchist Vampire line. The anarchists were a lot of fun to paint.

They're standing outside the Alamo :o

Is that Crockett, Bowie and Travis resurrected as the undead ???

Great stuff :)

Sharp eyed aggro84 is quite correct the building in the background is from the Alamo. It's a large resin bookend I found in a thrift store. It got me to thinking about gothic horror in Latin America. EoTD in the streets of Mexico city, Peruvian Mummies in Machu Piccu, Mesoamerican Vampires in the Yucatan Peninsula and who knows what perils lurk in the Argentinian Pampas?

Actually Malamute spotted it first. Credit where credit is due.  :D

Those are some VERY COOL minis & all NICELY painted. I hadn't really looked at the Romanov's before, but those Mad Bombers are just too cool not to pick some up...thanks for the post.

I'd like to see more 'native' perils; chupacabra is the only thing that comes to mind, of course.

I'm assuming there are things like skinwalkers, about as close as NA natives got to shapeshifters.

Werewolves of the Pampas...

I like it!

Check out the early seasons of 'Supernatural' - there are a few 'native' perils featured.

I've been pondering Latin American foes for my monster hunters. Several possibilities come to mind. Were-jaguars, from the Olmecs to the Aztecs the man jaguar hybrid has a huge representation in Mesoamerican art. Vampire bats are native to central America and the Mayan's bat god Camazotz lends itself to to a vampire cult. Xipe Totec was an Aztec diety whose name translates as Flayed One and I think I can do something with that. Finaly the Feathered Serpent, Quezacoatl, might represent a race of serpent people or intelligent raptors. These are just ideas I'm toying with no disrespect to any cultural heritage intended. I've been wonderfuly busy this October but I hope to be posting painted figs in the upcoming weeks.
