British Victory!
As we approach completion of the Great War rule book, theres been some frenzied play testing going on, and yesterday the nice chaps from Gripping Beast turned up to play a game.
Andy "Lord S" Sherwell and myself took charge of British Tank company, faced against a German Assault Battalion played by the other Beast, Darren Harding.
We played an objective based game from one of the scenarios in the book, and used 1600 point forces on a 8 x 6 table, so we could see how the game worked with larger forces, and a bigger table. There were two objectives, one a group of buildings near the British deployment zone, and the other in some woods, around the centre of the table.
After a grim battle in the centre of the table and on one flank, the Germans took the buildings objective, but failed to have enough men on it to count as securing it. (Game tip, read the victory conditions for the missions, they are important!)
The British on the other hand, had a full platoon on the other objective with in the woods (and a tank in support), and so, it was a glorious victory for the British commanders, wrapped up with afternoon tea and biscuits.
We have another battle report (well it was more of a training mission actually) to follow soon on the WHW web site between some of our colleagues here at BLPublishing who were trying out the rules. Once they write up a few words we will post it up and let you know as theres also a couple of pictures.
