The Wild Wild West
« on: 24 October 2012, 03:20:37 AM »
I've been thinking about running a game based on the Wild Wild West and am wondering what rules might be the best to use. 7TV? Great Rail Wars? Empire of the Dead? etc.? I want something that will run the heroes, Gordon and West, plus their gadgets, US Cavalry, an Evil Mastermind and his minions, and some steam powered devices.
Jane! Stop this crazy thing!

Savage Worlds Showdown. It's the new version of Great Rail Wars and is a free download, I've used it for similar games.
So many projects..... so little time.......

I would agree Savage Worlds Showdown or Great Rail Wars would be the most ideal options.

Did they ever release a proper point-manager for building troops for Showdown? I looked briefly at the excel file they had available but it didn't really seem that great.

Froggy the Great's VSF expansion for FUBAR might work. I don't have a link I'm afraid, but he posted it about a year ago on the VSF boards - heroes, steam-tech and minions all covered.

Not that I know of. The excel sheet does everything needed though as long as you aren't trying to make a 'competitive' army. It's designed more for creating scenarios and the troops wanted, and it's great for that. However it has no safeguards to prevent you from abusing the system and creating ludicrously unbalanced forces, so if you're looking for a tournament game, this isn't it.

7TV with renamed gadgets would probably work quite well to be honest. I've seen it use for all sorts Star wars battles being one.  :D

Agreed. Even the gizmos from the main rules make sense. 7tv all the way.
