Fair point re the doormats.  Whats your answer for fields?

Well i'm preferring the fur fabric to the cut up carpet...  

Generally i just make up the field enclosures with walls or hedges, and forego different textures within those boundaries... not sure it adds a whole lot to the overall visual effect, although I'm sure others would disagree...

To my eye, doormat also looks daft with figures standing 'on top of' the putative crops. On the whole, I'd rather have barren fields, and the figures' bases on the deck. But as ever, these things are just matters of personal preference. There's no right or wrong answer, is there...

I might just have a stab at a teddy bear fur meadow though...  :wink:

Me to, but I have to say, bsed on that link there, that a gutted and skinned teddy bare makes excellent gaming board terrain.

I for one am in the 'that's just fantastic' club.

The doormats work for me but the teddy bear fur could be very good I suppose you wouldn't need to trim it though.

The only odd bit is having the cavalry charging on top but seeing as it only happens for part of a turn what's the crack. Its a cheap and effective way of doing things.

Now that boat where would you begin to build that fantastic  :love:

The boat I am  told is a 1/72nd true scale version of the Potemkin.  But as its only 3.5' long, it obviously can't be.  However it was built for 28mm figures, as all the bridge work, etc, accomodates the 2p piece bases we use on the figures.  As I said before, my mate blew a considerable part of a redundo cheque on it, and now hides it in my house for fear of the wifes wrath.  I am sworn to secrecry about how much it cost, however it was less than four figures, though not by much.  The turrets move, the boats come off, and it got scuttled in its first outing.  I am planning to take it to Partizan in September for an even bigger show game.  Har! har! what fun!!!

A few more from our 'Cradle of Life' game last summer.  The boat is to show how big it is, the Steam Tanks are The Mad Barons inventions (bear in mind we are four campaigns in....and yes...the world has changed....), and the other is the 5th battle of Omdurman..you had to be there.....
